I just started investing about a month ago. I wish I was over $100k+ like most of you who post on here but I was paying off my student loans and helping out my parents with their mortgage. I mostly have Tesla shares and I’m confident it will make me a lot of money in the next 5-10 years. Just posting to show others that it’s ok to not have $100k+ in investments.

Appreciate your thought, your attitude, and the gesture, OP!
Many times, people fall behind on savings because they don't care enough or think retirement is too far out. The dilgent investors, who we meet here, provide a constant reminder for those to start asap and not procrastinate. I started investing quite late and on hindsight wish I had a community similar to this bowl to shake me up and tell me it's not okay to wait.
Having said that, it is critically important to start and not brood over any lost time or opportunity. Congratulations on having achieved that already.
If I may ask, how old are you?

You have a lot of time to play catch up and are doing great reading investment related posts and keeping your curiosity running.
You're paying off debts which is an investment of sorts, isn't it? Saving on interest payment is a gain for sure :)
I invested a big portion of my NW and took on a hefty student loan for B-school. Started truly investing at 30+ after I paid off all my debts.

All the very best! Keep tightening your purse and putting savings into the market.

Appreciate your efforts. Students loans & helping your parents w/ mortgage are definitely a big responsibility. Folks would be trying to do the opposite, rent free, hand outs. Keep it up!!

like

That's definitely an accomplishment many won't get to say, not just for you but your parents to raise a great kid. I'm glad you have that mind set to help them. I find this more respectable vs someone who'd live rent free at their parents apt to save for their own house which I hear more of sadly. Not that you owe your parents to buy them a house but just your generosity to bother to do so.

It’s okay to take your own path. But just remember this community has a lot of experience and advice to offer...if you’re open to it.

I agree 100%

Congrats on starting your journey! I too wish I had started earlier but keep at it and it’ll grow. Remember you’re one step ahead of where you were!
