Start looking for something new, and during interviews you be honest about unfortunately falling into a toxic work environment and needing to part ways from the role sooner than you would have liked to as a result. I’ve done it before and left roles quickly without it hurting me getting a new job. Take care of your mental health as well as you can in the meantime and best of luck!
Well maybe you should consider looking for another job. I joined a company recently and it was a very toxic environment but yet I decided to give it a try but in the end they laid me off.So run if you can ☺️
Already considered!
I’m not sure there is a question you can ask that would get you an honest answer. No one is going to be like don’t come here it’s toxic, unless they are already on their way out.
You can try asking things like what’s the most difficult part about this job, but it’s probably unlikely you’ll get that straight forward of an answer. You can also ask why the role is open, if it’s new or a backfill. If backfilling, why.
Places like Glassdoor is going to be the most helpful to you.
Exactly! I asked many different ways too In all honesty, you’re right! No one is going to say the work environment is toxic. There’s no way to get a true idea of the people you will be working with until you work with them. 🤦🏾♀️
Well, “toxic” to you might have a different definition to someone else.
For example, if I’m an introvert and the company requires cameras on, attending all social events until it’s done, and have to share everything from bowel movements to hourly time keeping, I’m probably not a good fit. But someone who is an extrovert probably would LOVE this environment.
I would ask about the type of person who thrives here. What the manager’s managing style is like. What kind of talks folks have around the water cooler.
Another question would be how long has folks been here. If you have a bunch of folks that were there for 10+ years and then no one and then folks there less than a year - that might be another flag

F - would love to hear questions people ask in interviews to know if this is the environment.
VP1, they were insecure and jealous of your intelligence. They sought you out to make you feel small, so they could feel better about themselves. Glad you got out! And hope you get out soon OP! Don’t stress on the “job hopper” myth, it’s not worth your sanity. Most decent employers won’t care and it’s going to take one to get hired anyway. Start the hunt now. Good luck
The toxicity of a company, managers, people, etc. will NEVER be revealed in an interview unless they ((stupidly…or maybe not so stupidly (for the interviewee)) reveal red flags the interviewee is smart enough to pick up on.
Unless you dig really deep, know someone already working for the company willing to be really truthful about said toxicity, have experienced it themselves…you are taking a risk getting hired at that company no matter what…or never really knowing the truth, only after getting hired.
It’s just the sick, sad, truth anymore these days.
Ignore the BS. Read books by Goggins to protect your mind. Look for another job, stay positive and GTFO.
When someone starts freaking out on you - give them a 1000yrd stare. No emotions, no reaction. Let the freak find another victim.
