I think a majority of these hilarious conspiracy theories are imagined by lonely, socially deprived recluses who have grand imaginations from watching hours and hours of History Channel alien documentaries and years of Japanese anime.
Then they feed it to the moronic masses via YouTube. And soooo many people are so dissatisfied with their lives and their realities that they’ll run with ANY conspiracy that makes them feel like the world is interesting or tantalizing or like they’re in the midst of some exhilarating action movie, right at the climax when the world ends and James Bond faces off with the super villain.
Humanity is desperate for some action. For some purpose. People are so disillusioned with their lives that they become gullible enough to believe anything, just to spice things up with a little hope that MAYBE, just maybe, things aren’t as boring and pointless as they fear them to be.
@ Sr Director 1, I’m trying, but it’s beginning to look more and more like a pointless uphill battle.
I’m at the point where I don’t think people will rest until there’s some massive, bloody climax that satisfies their need for conflict. And then everyone’s going to regret it when we find ourselves in the midst of a civil war or global war between nationalists. We’re all going to suddenly “see the error of our ways” and vow to never let it happen again, and in a century or two we’ll be right back where we started. I feel like humanity is doomed to repeat these childish cycles because, deep down, we’re just primitive apes who’ve figured out how to light things on fire. And we can’t escape our more basic instincts that drive us to do inexplicably stupid shit.
I genuinely hope I’m wrong, and I won’t give up on doing my part to try to be one of the sane ones, but DAMN. Me & my soon-to-be-wife have pledged to not have children because we don’t trust the rest of humanity to take care of them when we’re gone. This place is going to shit
Also it makes more sense when you look at who most of the followers are - poor white people.
America is supposed to be the land of opportunity where if you work hard and “play by the rules” you should be successful (or so we are told). So you have a whole bunch of people who are living at or below the poverty line and at the same time their beliefs about American say that it’s their fault for not working hard enough.
It’s a lot more palatable to invent a boogieman than it is to admit (I) you are lazy and / or stupid or (II) there are parts of America that are not so star spangled fucking special

The crazy thing is the president of the country believes it and encourages it.

There was a thread the other day on this very forum with some Qanon adherents exchanging their little secret code words, like a couple of 10 year olds. If you guys are reading this, seek therapy.
Apparently from the start and it never got much better

Just curious: how long did your "thorough investigation" take?
