Partners/shareholders - how many hours are you expected to bill on work vs client dev and firm/associate management? My firm keeps saying that "there's no such thing as a relationship partner" and everyone top-to-bottom is expected to log 2000 hours/year on real billable work. Marketing etc is done on top of that. Recently got an offer at JPMC in NYC for 110k base for a 602 in operations/strategy (3x in office, 2x home); there would be an added 15 mins walk to the office + 45 mins bus ride. I’m currently in govt with 4 YOE (5x office) making 72.4k (no out of pocket expense) as a respected SPM in the org. I’m about to get a new hire to help me out but at JPMC, I won’t have anyone to manage. I have a total of 45 mins commute here. My manager is good, but should I take the JPMC opportunity at 25 y.o. to try?

Got an offer for 130k with 10 PTO at a big bank. 1 yoe. I'm fine with the salary. Is it reasonable to ask for 20 more PTO instead of $10,400 more in base salary? I'd rather travel than have 10k more, and the time away may motivate me to stay instead of jumping to something else.

Sometimes I feel like my partner truly doesn't understand me. I'm currently trying to lateral in big law, and I am stressed. When I tell her I'm anxious or upset, her first instinct is to try and rationalize through the feelings, and that's not what I need. Hell, our couples counselor has stated numerous times that I need her to call out the way that I'm feeling and address the emotion rather than trying to be solutions driven.
