Hi all,
I just came to realise Deutsche Bank has a fixed rule of max 30 to 35 % hike on fixed component and remaining 10 to 15% variable i.e. total 50% max hike you can ask for no matter how good, skilled you are.
Is it true?
(I got to know this when an HR called me for a Frontend developer role)

The tip from the book that helped me the most was: don’t offer your number first and don’t negotiate salary until you’ve had your interviews. When they ask for your number, say “I need to understand the full scope of the role responsibilities and what I might also bring to the table in addition before I feel ready to discuss compensation."
Also “I’m sure we can come to a number we both feel good about once we iron out what the role will look like in more detail."
I’m 100% genuine. The book has been out for decades. As a woman, it really helped me have a framework for negotiation where I never had one before. Scouts honor!
This is what I was looking for! Straight to the point, thank you OP!
Another tip from the book: consider your entire benefit package not just salary. This includes vacation, 401k matches, insurance deductibles and premiums. For example, I didn’t ask about insurance for one of my jobs and the premium for myself and family was double monthly what I had been paying at a WPP agency for less robust insurance. A few hundred bucks a month makes a difference!
OP, that books sounds good. I read a different book (Ask for It, Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever) and got the same tips. Ladies Get Paid is a a Slack where those who identify as women can get advice on how to negotiate. They also organize IRL meetings where they bring experts that coach women on $$$$ and career advancement.
Where was this post when I had to negotiate my pay earlier haha
Great sales pitch, did you write the book to? Was your tip, for us to go read a book? Fabulous clickbait, it worked!
Sorry, character limit had me like ????
Does it also talk about asking for a raise? Thanks for the recommendation.
Good stuff. I've been coaching people for many years how to negotiate - even when it is kind of against the good of the 'company'. Another good idea is to look at cultures where negotiation/haggling is commonplace in stores.
When you are given a couple bucks more than the salary you initially asked for, do you ever negotiate for more or is that just being greedy? Do you need a real reason? Seems like a weird thing to do. Especially if you picked a high salary to begin with
Where was this post before my interviews yesterday? Haha
Senior Copywriter 1, yes it does! Gives lots of different scenarios since raise negotiation has more nuance.
