Be patient. You won't stay on the same client forever. Maybe many years, but not forever. Is it a giant client that doesn't allow you to be on anything else? If not, you should be getting other experiences from your other clients right? Even if you stay on that client, you should gain different experiences each year as you move up the ranks and can do more difficult work.
If it's a global 360, don't leave. I'm bouncing between midcaps after leaving a big energy client and miss it to death. Big companies hire smart people who frequently design smart systems and processes.
Thank you guys. I'm actually a first year and I'm still on my 12/31 year end for a private client. Since the filing deadline keeps extending, the time keeps overlapping with my next few clients and my senior manager keeps pulling my time for this client. I don't want to focus on this industry either so I'm not sure if I should reach out to my counselor
Yeah, figure out how to gtfo then.
I would say as a first year, you don't have any leverage. Be patient and go extra mile in everything you do. People will start trusting you and will give you good reviews. After that, you can start asking for specific clients you want to work on.
