I keep hearing from companies after the interview process that they have to put the role on hold due to internal issues and will update me at a later time. What could this possibly mean?

4th quarter. People who want to hire, think they can hire and then the company/holding company puts it on hold. Happens every year.


This has been my entire summer of 2019. Happened to just under a dozen roles - some that I initiated, some that came to me through recruiters or cold outreach directly from hiring managers on LinkedIn. I’m convinced a majority of job postings are either fishing expeditions to see who’s out there just in case, or they were never planned well with finance to begin with. Also, client scopes of work can unexpectedly change and that can definitely impact internal hiring budgets. But mostly, I think people are just curious and aren’t fully committed to hire anyone new. If you see the same job opening consistently for months at a time, or no new employees with the exact job title you were interviewing for on the company’s list of current employees on Linkedin, chances are it’s not a real job or the agency/company doesn’t have their shit together.


It pretty much means just that and the issues can range but either way, as a candidate you should move on and not sit around waiting for it to materialize. Keep looking and if they really wanted, they'll reach out to you. I'd follow up once in 3-4 weeks to check in just in case but would not invest all my energy in it.


Could be bs or could be true. Basically, don’t put all of your eggs in that basket

Hello guys, My friend needs a job referral in testing. He has 10 months of experience in manual testing.

A Director of Product sent a connection request on LI and asked if I wanted to talk. We had a good call —fairly informal. They liked my background and understanding of strategy. Without filling out an app —he moved me to discussion with HR and to the “final interview”, but it’s actually 5 separate interviews, each with a different stakeholder from the panel. Also had me sign an NDA. Not taking anything for granted -prepping rigorously- but is this at all common?

I spoke with a recruiter recently about a position in her company and before we even began talking about the job, she asked if I needed an sponsorship, I told her no, I dont need one. But she continued to press on the subject until I had to tell her I was a US citizen. I dont know why, but the whole conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. So my question is, can recruiters ask you about your visa/immigration status even when I told her I didnt need a sponsorship??


Why do we accept it as normal for recruiters using an army of compensation directors and market research to negotiate against junior creatives with 10 year old laptops?

Do recruiters think this is the best method? I’m lucky to be at a point in my career where i have some choice in which recruiters/agencies i want to work with and I can tell you 100% of the time i go with whoever offers clarity. I simply don’t bother with the recruiters who are vague / refuse to be transparent about budgets.


When you say let's keep in touch do you actually intend to? Or is that something you just say to everyone?


Why would a company be hiring for a very high level and not have a job description? I’m kind of worried about this...
