Herman Miller Embody chair. Highly recommend it. One of my favorite investments.

If not an Embody, definitely the Herman Miller Arron, which is more customizable and can have a head rest added

Consider standing desk mod to your home office for lower back pain. Mine cost $400 (the price of a good chair) but my back is doing so much better after just a couple weeks.

IBM1: If you need a headrest, then it sounds like you have specific posture needs. Look into the Humanscale Freedom chair.

After a lot of testing and deliberation (I am a Consultant after all), I went with a Diffrient Smart chair (not a typo) Been using it for a year. Love it.

HAG Capisco chair! It helps encourage “active” sitting, can be used at sitting or standing height, and looks like it’s from Star Trek.

Try a Fitness ball

As important as the chair - make sure you use an external monitor or raise your laptop and use an external keyboard/mouse. Laptop screens are too low, forcing you to look down and putting a lot of pressure on your neck.

Like S&1 I have the embody for the home office which is great. Also you can pick up a decent standing desk from Ikea for $500. Mine has lasted 3 years now and has some fairly heavy speakers on it that it needs to move up and down.

For those who have the embody, how does it compare to the Aeron? The only thing that turns me off about the Embody is there is no headrest, and not even an option to add one.

I gave a deep hated for the humanscale freedom chair. I'd stay away. About 10 years ago they renovated the office I worked and everyone got humanscale chairs. Nobody liked them after a few weeks.

BCG1: fitness ball is great for strengthening the core, however cannot be used for extended periods of time and also may elicit lower back pain for people with existing spine problems

My Aeron is incredible

Try standing.

Aerons. You can get a refurbished executive model on eBay for about 600.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect. When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks in advance!

This week I started a listen through my entire record collection from front to back. I’ll be doing this on workdays when I am in my home office. Did it a few years ago. Collection has grown a lot since then. But I’m not doing comedy and spoken word this time. Too hard to work to those. I expect it to take 4-6 weeks at least. Depending on how many calls I have.

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg. I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

Day by day I’m just getting less and less interested in my job. I want to do something that excites me and makes me feel like I’m providing value to the company. Everything else about the job is splendid as I’m still WFH (2 years now) and it’s really flexible but I don’t want to just sit all day and work on fixing data problems. I want to make the switch to a new company but I feel like I have to finish a project that’s nowhere near done. Am feeling guilty? Thoughts?

Hi! I have got an opportunity at BCG. So just wanted to know how is the work life there? They have been constantly asking me to start ASAP. With the amount of pressure I’m getting from them feels like work load is extremely bad. Is this true? I worked for a company where I had to work throughout the day and sometimes over the weekends to keep up. So just trying to compare to see if I’m getting myself into trouble for some more dollars?! Just had a compensation discussion with my manager. I work at a big fortune 50 company. I met expectations and got back my compensation review receiving a 3% merit increase. My boss knows I’m disappointed, and I asked to setup a follow up convo. We talked about inflation being 7.5% and I’m losing purchase power. Other details: Started last Jan 2021 Switching to a new role in a few weeks (manager said to talk to my new manager, LOL) But we only have compensation adjustments once per year

Curious to hear people’s thoughts on this. As an Asian American female (28 years old), I make significantly more than my Asian American bf (29 years old), and this is a constant topic in my family and aunts and uncles with really hurtful jabs about how he’s poor and the guy should make more than the girl and how it’s so embarrassing. Has anyone else experienced this in terms of these traditional values and toxicity? For reference, I own property and make 200K while he’s around 90K.
