I know it's early to even mention this, but has anyone starting preparing lessons for the fall? I want to create a remote learning webquest (how to use remote learning tools) so that students are prepared for anything.

I know I want to to approach teaching writing differently. I’ve been experimenting with prompts that promote the process rather than the product. I’m also working on text selection. I’ve been reading some amazing books in quarantine and I’d like to incorporate these texts into the curriculum. Most of all I want to design learning experiences that allow me to get out of the way.

I have started working on my IEP meeting calendar for the next school year. I will begin working on lesson plans in July for both classroom and long distance learning.

I’m meeting with my teammate for one of my three preps next year next week and I will have to meet my other teammate for my second prep. I’m not looking forward to next year’s schedule. 🤦🏼‍♀️ “It’s what’s best for kids.” Sure it is. Its what’s best for shrinking staff numbers but I’m sure it will be great. 🤪😬🤪

Wayyyy too early! There are too many unknowns for me even to attempt to try to plan. Will we have a normal schedule, split online/face to face, all online, 3 days on 2 days off???? If you start planning, you may have to start all over again.

like

Sam here. Waiting to hear the plan.

I plan my year as well!! Lol I never actually use the plans that I create because my imaginary class never shows up 😳.Still it works as a guide for the year plus I feel prepared and able enjoy my August 😁!

likefunny

Same!

Absolutely. I always plan my entire year over summer. I’m going to plan the way I normally do and then have a contingency for hybrid/remote. My district is really pushing to not be 100% online in the fall so I feel comfortable planning based on that info.

That sounds awesome. I’ve never really figured out how to make my own web quest but I totally us other creative people’s work and I do adapt them to fit my needs.

I’ve started. I’ve been doing a lot using a digital planner in google classroom and making slides that I can directly link. I also plan to make videos that can be linked in as well. This way the whole week’s lessons will be on one slide.

I just started using Google classroom in April due to the.. I love it!! Still learning on all the great tools it has to offer. Where is this planner you speak of lol 🤔

Not thinking yet. I am still teaching till the 18 th of June.

Yes! I planned out my entire year & created higher order questions for every book I’ll read aloud from. However, if we are distance learning again...I’ve got nothing 🙈

This is a brilliant idea!

I have started. I used to teach a PD on his to create webquests. That would be great. What are you thinking exactly?

like

Nope not even thinking about it. I'm still teaching virtually now till the 17th of June.

Never to early to begin! A webcast sounds great! I know some of my kids will need a review of this spring to go over issues we all had to figure out. Debrief!!

Just working on pacing guides and then curriculum mapping. Hoping to get google classrooms set up to address the first two weeks of lessons and materials.

like

That's how I plan too. I use the previous year's curriculum map and make adjustments based on notes I made from the previous year. Then I break that down into weekly standards. It's going to be a lot of change for next year since we're moving to block scheduling. I'll need to combine things and plan for the longer periods.

That sounds like a great idea!

like

I am looking at doing the same!

like

That sounds awesome!

Lol nope

It sounds good, go for it !!!

I wrote a rec letter for one of my legal assistants for law school right before COVID got bad and we all started working remote. Ever since then, this assistant has seemingly been slacking. There’s only so much I can actually see/review without seriously micromanaging her. I’ve spoken to her about her slacking at least twice and both times she just brushed it off. I want to withdraw my rec letter, but I feel like it’s too late. She is leaving at the end of the summer. Should I just let it be?

QQ for any TTP users: what would you recommend as the most accelerated use of the portal? I have my GMAT in about 10 days. I've had access for half a month and I'm through ~20% problems. I've only targeted sections where I felt I needed the most improvement mainly focusing on chapter tests. If I haven't met the accuracy needed, I've then spent time on the lessons and usually hit the accuracy after. For additional context, aiming for Q47+. I was on a Q45 on a Veritas mock last week.
