🙄 I thought I left Bradford behind in law school and then he showed up at a bar association event. Now I’m on a panel with Bradford

funny

You will be dealing with the Bradfords of the world your whole career. I have been practicing for 30 years, mostly at AMLaw 20 firms. Just a few months ago, in my very first discussion with the lead opposing lawyer in an important case (who is 60), who works at a respected regional firm, irrelevantly informed me 5 minutes into our discussion that 35 years ago he worked for two years at a very prominent NY firm. He does this with everyone., as per of a canned introduction designed to make him should more capable than he is. Take Bradfords for what they are - profoundly insecure people. Expect from them what insecure people do - constantly talking about themselves and their accomplishments, hypersensitivity to criticism, and vulnerability to flattery. In an adversary these qualities mean you have to ignore the bragging and smother them in flattery -which will get you nearly anything you want. In a colleague you should just stand back, be courteous, and let his Bradfordness blow up his career.

This is very good advice! Lol @ “let his Bradfordness blow up his career.”

I had several interviews with Deutsche bank and they have verbally offered the job about 2 months ago. I noticed on Workday Tuesday the status says "offer in progress". In the time between, I did get some calls the offer is still in progress and is slowed down due to manager out of office (among other things). How long should I wait until I need to call back and get an update? And this type of situation commonplace?

I joined FIL on 08th August 2022 and hence was eligible for appraisal but even after a good feedback, I was told that there is no increment in salary as well as bonus because of "Too Soon To Decide" rating. And this is being followed not just in our team but in whole FIL. This is the first time I am hearing such kind of thing and didn't found any thing like this on "HR Hub". So, if anyone of you know about this or have received similar gyan from Manager, please share your experience. Fidelity In

I’m currently working at a law firm in San Diego specializing in coastal property rights as a litigation paralegal and legal assistant. We received a minute order from a preliminary injunction hearing. Our client was ordered to post an injunction bond of $2,500. First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?

I’d never really looked at my billing stats until today, ie the nitty gritty (second year, AMLAW lit) — I have a 98% realization ratio. Feeling pretty good about my revenue generation and the fact that I’m about to put in my notice and go make that sweet revenue for another firm.

Does anyone have the LegalBoard Keyboard? How do you feel about it? I’m specifically looking to buy it for a partner who’s been practicing for about 20 years, so I’m looking for any input/thoughts on that, I’m concerned she might not bother to learn to use the lawyer features since she’s been practicing so long, or that as a partner she doesn’t do much day to day drafting of legal docs that the features are useful for. I would appreciate any thoughts!!
