Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.
Bain & Company Can any Bain & Company fish provide insight on Bain's expense policy? When WFH, at client site (outside of based city) and when working with local client...
It would also be helpful to provide insight on travel policy - first class in which flights, always 5-star hotels? Etc.
Thank you!

Write one - I always read the applicant’s cover letter before interviews. Helps make conversation.
Mck doesn’t read
A few times I have seen McK recruiters recommend asking to add a cover letter, it was for candidates that needed to clarify extenuating circumstances (e.g. Low GPA, gaps in unemployment)
I always read them. Mainly looking to make sure that the person is enthusiastic about consulting. Seems like a Bain thing.
I got my interview because of my cover letter.
I read the letters during CV screening and before interviews. I rarely pass a CV without a cover letter unless the CV is EXTREMELY strong (top of class, entrepreneur, and fascinating hobby accomplishment).
It can only hurt you, skip it

I disagree with EY. Your cover letter will only hurt you if you do not have a compelling why Bain or why consulting, or you are sloppy. I like reading them because it makes it easier for me to connect with candidates and gives me more insight into their background than just their resume will. It can also let me know if you have interacted with people I respect at the company depending on what you include.
For McKinsey, NO.
Write a good one and submit it.
