I know the political turmoil and messed up policies/decisions have hurt our economy and the state of the country in general, but damn do I love my country 🇺🇸❤️ there’s no place in the world I’d rather be.

I’m a Canadian who has been watching in horror with some of what is going on in the US (not that we’re much better tbh), but on a micro as opposed to macro level every time I’ve been to the States the people are so friendly and so great. Granted it’s a limited experience but in the ~dozen times I’ve been the individual people are wonderful!

A small but obnoxious group is certainly trying 😅 I’m in a smaller, conservative-leaning city… nothing like sitting outside each weekend listening to mini truck conveys honking their way through the city. What they’re actually protesting other than the PM in general, I do not actually know.

I’m British, and before retraining into Big Law, I spent a decade+ as an Army officer, including working with the US military on many occasions. You have a superb country, of which you’re correct to be proud. I have friends currently deployed as commanding officers of battle groups in Eastern Europe, on ruSSia’s border: the US’s immense contributions to Ukrainian defence have made their survival a real possibly. The world owes your country greatly. More broadly, yours was the first true democracy, and set an example for the world.

In recent years it has become fashionable for fifth columnists within the west (ie both of our countries) to attack from within. Douglas Murray’s recent book, The War on the West, refutes their attacks:

“In The War on the West, international bestselling author Douglas Murray asks: if the history of humankind is one of slavery, conquest, prejudice, genocide and exploitation, why are only Western nations taking the blame for it? It's become perfectly acceptable to celebrate the contributions of non-Western cultures, but discussing their flaws and crimes is called hate speech. What's more it has become acceptable to discuss the flaws and crimes of Western culture, but celebrating their contributions is also called hate speech. Some of this is a much-needed reckoning; however, some is part of a larger international attack on reason, democracy, science, progress and the citizens of the West by dishonest scholars, hatemongers, hostile nations and human-rights abusers hoping to distract from their ongoing villainy. In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows the ways in which many well-meaning people have been lured into polarisation by lies, and shows how far the world's most crucial political debates have been hijacked across Europe and America. Propelled by an incisive deconstruction of inconsistent arguments and hypocritical activism, The War on the West is an essential and urgent polemic that cements Murray's status as one of the world's foremost political writers.”

Societies being undermined from within has a long history. Please continue to resist it, for everyone’s sake:

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the
ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from
within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero. 106 BC - 43 BC

Over half a century ago, the West again faced an expansionist ruSSian state, and Ronald Reagan made a compelling speech about the choice to be made, commending within it the USA. It’s worth watching. 'There is only one guaranteed way you can have peace ... surrender', speech against Cold War appeasement, 27 October 1964, California, USA: https://youtu.be/JDVT-8tUfiE

I hope you had a great 4 July last week. 😊

What a joke LMAO if you god forbid became very ill you’d go bankrupt from the costs, so much of your hard earned money goes to a bloated military budget, there’s no paid parental leave for new families and millions of people in this country are struggling and make enough money an hour to buy one carton of milk.

So tired of these fools who think it’s stupid to love their country, problems and all. I’ve lived in other countries, and every time I get back - makes me smile. There are plenty of interesting places to live outside the US, but the US is great. Not gonna be ashamed of it!

Taxpayer filed an extension along with an extension payment for 2019 tax return, and the payment was cashed but the IRS assessed failure to file penalty. Unfortunately don’t have certified mail receipt, but trying not to use first time abatement. Wrote a letter to the IRS in November and didn’t hear back, so called and they waived it but received a letter referencing first time abatement. Is there anything that can be done? Would like to have used reasonable cause abatement instead.

Hey team! I've been thinking about what success would mean in terms of this platform and general inclusion in the team. These are some of my thoughts:

1. Frequency of positive engagements (positive in a productive, constructive sense)
2. Increasing numbers of people engaging in each topic as they get more comfortable using the tool and airing their opinions
3. Some measure outside the app of team engagement in day to day interactions (changes in psychological safety)

What are your thoughts?
