Compensation and WLB are the main drivers of retention almost everywhere in the world for employees.

Right now, there are companies that are offering more compensation pay package as well as a better WLB than Deloitte, so it's going to be difficult for Deloitte to retain employees.

Almost everyone at Senior consultant level or below desires to work in a product based company nowadays.

I would definitely add career growth and promotion as a major factor for attrition. One of the attractions towards Consulting (esp. Strategy) was that you put in the hours but you get accelerated career growth in return which greatly improves your exit options. As the trend shifts away from accelerated career growth more and more, it's definitely a fair question that the Author has asked.

You can may be take the next 4 years to learn that the growth is not only defined by change of designation 😀

Not a leader, just a first year SC with some common sense 😀.

Wait, you’re saying analysts who got promoted to consultant this year (PY22) have their next target promotion year as PY26 by default? I see PY25 in my case.

Is it worth to lateral to Accenture Applied Intelligence from EY Data & Analytics, given that I’ll be skipping a promotion cycle? I am a 1st year consultant at EY, looking to be promoted to staff 2 (2nd year) this October. So if I do lateral to Acn as a 1st year analyst this summer, I’d be skipping a promotion cycle. Having said that the salary for Acn 1st year will still be a little bit higher than EY 2nd year consultant, tho I think EY 3rd year (senior) > Acn 2nd year (analyst). Any thoughts?

I am an incoming associate looking to transfer from a very competitive office to another one for personal reasons in 2024.
1. Inform my current office and start the transfer documentation now
2. Wait to get my EM promotion before telling them (since i got told the promotion is between 15-24 months).
I am concerned with option 1 my current office might not invest in me and be passed over for promotion ; and 2 will make it difficult to get ready by 2024

Senior 3 ( been senior for three years) at big 4 looking to jump to a mid sized firm as manager( top 30 firms) . I was up for promotion this year but didn’t had my cpa license in hand by 5/31 (what they required) so missed it. However I am expecting to get my license soon in July. Been acting manager for 2 years. Pay will increase 30% . Ive seen people saying that better stay at big 4 until manager. Any suggestions ? Should I leave now or wait until make manager in big 4 to jump?

What are promotional raises looking like for your firm from associate to senior associate? Apparently GT is only doing a 7% raise (per multiple folks in the GT bowl). In the past, most folks have received at least 15% up to 25% if you exceeded expectations, from what I’ve seen. If other firms are higher, I might consider jumping boats because 7%, even mid pandemic is a slap in the face. Especially for someone who exceeded expectations.
