I know there’s an mba applicants bowl, but curious if anyone has run into problems with the background check once admitted? My title is a bit confusing and usually I use a different one (does not sound superior or anything like that) but worried about consequences...should I be?

Came here to say the same thing ^

Not sure if you have to put in separate information or if they use everything from your application; however, if you do have to fill out another form, you can always put your “real” title in there with the title you call yourself in parentheses. Most background checks will flag if the title doesn’t match perfectly (aka Sr. Consultant vs. Sr. Associate), but most people who are reviewing can figure that out....

One of my rules had a much different job titled than position title. They had previously matched, but when I moved to a new office I kept the same role but with a different job title in the HR system. Did not pose any issues during MBA admissions.

You shouldn't have any issues, and just apologize and justify it confidently if ever asked. How similar do the two titles sound or describe what you did? Can you post a variation of them here?

Nah

Shouldn’t throw any red flags but if you’re still applying maybe pre-empt the issue and mention it in the “extra information you’d like to share” section of the application? I know most schools in the US have this section. There was 1 person in my class who outright lied about having a particular job on their resume and was rightfully expelled when they failed the background check. Yours seems like a non-issue :)

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
