I don't have an answer, just shared frustration - these jobs are ridiculously life consuming, and for what? There's no need for the excessively long hours other than corporate greed / an old boys club history of men who want to avoid their home lives. I love the intellectual challenge of the work, but since becoming a mom my tolerance for the time-wasting BS has completely evaporated.
I second, there is no need to milimetrically update a deck 20 times over during weekends.

I don’t work part time but did move to industry about a year after my first kid and it felt like I had a part time job because the hours were so much less. I do find it fairly fulfilling, still get to work on a lot of the same interesting problems as in consulting (corp strat / business ops), but way more control over project timelines. Also generally spend less time cleaning up slides, def lower standards…but more time getting stakeholder buy in and trying to hold ppl accountable for their portion. Pros and cons to every job but the company has been incredibly supportive throughout Covid, very flexible and in reality I work more like 9:30-4 with very infrequent work after kids go to bed. Definitely did not want to be a stay at home mom though and the money was fairly comparable once you account for equity (albeit not partner level-income).

Would either of you be open to chatting? I would love to hear more about these firms!

Ditto.
There are more and more. I think you’ll gain more comfort w the option if you’re searching part time jobs often (ie search a key word for the work you do or want to do and then part time in the type). You may not end up in an actual role w a consulting co as you’re used to, and I’m sure the $ would be a lot less. But there are for sure lots of part time jobs out there for professionals using your skills, and I’m seeing this more and more.
But you’re a partner so that would be a big shift and I don’t think you could really find an equivalent job on a part time basis or even close to an equivalent salary.
Im answering from the perspective of searching Indeed all the time for opportunity to work for someone else. There are also independent consulting opportunities that happen w those who have relationships. I’m sure you know more about that path.
People who are willingly to work long hours are certainly old boys club of men who don’t want to get involved in family care!!!
I started my own LLC for contractor works and networked hard with recruiters and industry people telling them specifically what I was looking for and a fair bill rate. I was able to find a great part time consulting gig, so I did that last year while I was pregnant. I’m back full time now but was really selective on the gig that offered 100% remote and flexible schedule. I keep that LLC and network in my back pocket though. I prefer to do contractor consulting work then a salary consulting gig with only one firm. Best advice I ever received was “start viewing yourself as the commodity” then we can set our own boundaries
I have a lot of consultant friends who moved to industry full time, and it works well. I know "part-time" consultants that just work part-time during the day, catch up at night, and get paid as a part timer.

To build on someone's industry point above, I feel like moving to industry has allowed me to maintain my ambition while improving my hours. I still work more efficiently and, full disclosure, sometimes just more hours than many of my peers so I am recognized and respected and on a strong trajectory.
I feel like going part-time in a consulting role will slow your trajectory. And many people who move to internal roles end up doing work that wouldn't excite them elsewhere.
It is clearly still tough to try to get it all done, but I work out more and have more hobbies and spend more time with my family in industry. This isn't true everywhere but be thoughtful about your exit and it could be true for you.
