We did an activity I called "Safety Island" where we talked as a class and drew all of the things that made us feel safe on the island. I feel like the bigger the tax practices are getting they are making staff specialize too quickly and they have super narrow skill sets and no clue what the full picture looks like. We just hired a big 4 senior that has NEVER prepared a state return. I can’t even fathom that.

If I moved to a new state that requires the AICPA ethics course, and my old state did not (so I never took it in the first place), but I’m applying for my CPA license in the new state under reciprocity so have to now take the course, will the firm cover the cost of the ethics course?

Got an offer for a senior role in accounting advisory at a different firm. Currently a newly promoted senior in EY audit. Do I jump ship? Or ask for an internal transfer to FAAS? My concern is I’m not sure if I have enough experience and feel guilty leaving the team.

I’ve worked in PA for almost 2yr and have got my CPA. However, there are times when I feel like my brain is so slow when understanding client’s JE flow esp when it comes to accrual/reserve and where manual AJEs are involved etc. I feel like understanding accounting in the context of audit is different from doing the actual corporate accounting. Sometimes I feel like a fake accountant LOL
