Just got an offer from the industry (non-tech) - they were able to match my existing base pay ~230k. Likely it will be a career limiting move with no future bonus and comp growth (maybe standard 2-3%) but going to be good work life balance. Having major money FOMO, but also hate consulting lifestyle.

My sup does an amazing job of grooming me for my next promotion, but the more I get a taste of what being an M might look like, I’m beginning to feel like I’m not looking forward to it. I have meetings all day and work all night and I’m already over it... have any of you had this feeling? If so, what’d you do? Move to industry? Go internal? Something else? Tell me your stories of opting out of the up or out model.

Last year, My girlfriend was making 80k while I was making 200k so I took her out to dinners and took care of the groceries etc. Basically made sure it’s an equitable relationship. She got a new job this year and is now making 210k (more than me) but still expects me to pay for all the dinners and groceries. I’ve already talked to her about this but just resulted in argument. Is there any coming back from this situation to make this equitable relationship or is break up the only option here?
