Move to hyderbad India. You can retire in the next five years

Pretty hard to emigrate to India from US

As a follow up, I have recently lost a few relatives who worked super hard until late 60s and then died relatively quickly, not leaving them any time to enjoy life or the money they accumulated. Hence, the idea to get done earlier (early to mid 50) and then really relax and enjoy life when I am still (relatively) young and have the health and energy that a 70 year old typically won’t have..

Really sorry for your losses Checkout the FIRE (financial independence retire early) bowl. There’s usually a few lists of countries people are looking for retiring. I’ve seen Portugal come up a lot lately.

like

Costa Rica probably fits this list. Gorgeous country, from what I hear they are cracking down a bit on US retirement communities there as they’re getting a little sick of them.

I'm from Italy and I can say that I don't know anybody who spends 5k a month there. Get a nice villa in the countryside, perhaps 1k a month to rent (and that's for a really really nice one). Healthcare is free, diversity of landscapes (hello Alps and Mediterranean sea) and the food is just as good as the weather. Not close to the US tho.

Can a US citizen get the healthcare?

Belize and you can buy the land now, fee simple land ownership which is rare. Island is called San Pedro. Beautiful place, safe, English speaking and will boom in 5-10

Mexico, Costa Rica, colombia. Italy, Spain, Portugal. In no particular order.

All of those except Columbia are on my list. Best for me to keep an extended supply chain.

Turkey for sure

PM1 - why?

Healthcare will be your biggest obstacle. You need to do some research - Cigna offers a plan for expats. I second Costa Rica and Belize. Or perhaps Ecuador. There are already bigger US communities. I’m from Europe- you’ll have to speak the local language there. Also, immigration will not be that easy and it’s far away from the US.

like

Just to add to your list of requirements, ease of immigration. It’s not easy to just up and move to a different country permanently and some are more welcoming than others

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Ask questions here, in this safe space.
