My father is retired, and is looking into investments. Currently has rental properties, but at a certain point too many of them are a headache that he doesn’t want to deal with. What would you invest money in (2-3 Million) that is fairly hands off? We have talked about small businesses, but he really doesn’t want to have to manage the day to day activities. Rental properties that are >1 bedroom typically don’t have the return he would like to see.

Switching from .net to Java is good or bad after having 7 years of experience in .net?

Anyone know of any tech jobs out there that seem complex? Ones that someone can do with zero schooling but lots of experience behind them?

Looking to make a career pivot and don’t know if I should outright quit and take a breather from work (I have enough savings) to visit family abroad or take FMLA, knowing I would quit immediately after. Do you think I’d burn bridges by taking FMLA, then quitting 2 weeks later? The only reason I’d do that option is for financial reasons and to have income while I am visiting family.

How can I "live downtown" for a few months? I live in north Chicago now with my partner, but I've always wanted to try out the downtown, walk to work, city life. Is there an affordable way for me to do that short term just as a bucket list thing? I'll keep my current apartment, just get an additional thing for little bit. The closest thing I've found is summer student housing for schools in the city. Get 1 furnished bedroom in a 4 bed place. Any other options?
