I know what all my female coworkers kids look like because they’re always in their lap or in the camera view on meetings. But I can’t say the same for my male coworkers... are men really not helping with their kids during WFH or is this just an illusion of my zoom calls?

Also, when a kid appears in a man’s zoom, he’s a modern day hero. When it happens to a female, she’s not managing her job.

Google emotional labor. And then google “unpaid labor in the home.” It’s the opposite of an illusion - it’s putting front and center what exists - women are responsible for almost all domestic labor - on top of their paid job.

My experience at my agency has been that I do a lot of men pitching in with their kids and dogs, and even one of my clients is always having his baby to give his wife a break- but, I’ve heard that is not the common experience by any means (sad as that is)

like

I’ve noticed when kids are around (audible) my male coworkers mostly don’t go on camera.

Also, just because you don’t see the kids on a person’s zoom does not mean they are neglecting their duties as a parent.

I never see either with kids on camera. I’ll hear them in the background but in the last year I’ve only seen two toddlers appear on zoom. One belonging to a male colleague when dad needed to transform the transformer back into the car, and one when mom needed to open the juice box. 🤷🏻‍♀️

REFUSE TO RETURN TO THE OFFICE (unless you really want to)!

Despite proving ourselves as more than capable of WFH, agencies will try to force us back to the old ways. Do not budge. If enough of us refuse, they must accept a hybrid model.

Hybrid models are supported by the same finance jerks who gave us open offices and hotdesking. They also know hiring new talent is expensive—pointless even, if most of the labor force demands WFH. We have the upper hand here.

Agencies need to adapt, not us.

My husband and I have been fighting so much. I am resentful of him bc I don’t feel like he does enough around the house or for the kids. He thinks he does more than plenty. I WFH and he is jealous of that. He works outside the home but has an easier job so lots of more freedom to do what he needs to do. I don’t know what to do. We have been so mean to eachother and it’s really impacting our family dynamic. I also resent that i make more so pay for more like all the groceries, takeout, kids tbc

I had a virtual hearing yesterday. I’m a junior associate so the senior handled the talking and I was just taking notes. I had my camera on but lots of other cases were being called before mine. Half way through, I started having bandwidth issues so I turned off my camera. At the end the judge (in his 70s) mentioned that they lost me, probably because I was dealing with my kids while WFH. I don’t have kids and felt singled out as the only female on the call. Am I just being sensitive?

Joined a new consulting firm after 25 years in the business in Feb ‘22. Realized once onboard that Ive joined a messed up company/practice & project team. My new position/role was completely misrepresented. My “onboarding buddy” started sending borderline inappropriate texts immediately once I joined. I’m on a temporary project where I’m picking up all the admin slack the men on the team don’t want to do and I also have two leadership roles!
Document w/ HR? I have a bad feeling about all this.

I've had an ear infection this week MD got on some antibiotics 2 days ago. It's still pretty painful unless I'm laying on a heating pad. I worked from home yesterday but I'm worried about asking to work from home because my entire company is in office. I'm also pretty new... what should I do? Go to work and be uncomfortable/in pain or risk being seen as lazy for asking to work from home again?

Curious how other nannies are, but my full time nanny at home takes a couple naps each day. She feeds the baby well and helps with other house chores like cleaning, but from my POV she does not play with the baby enough, usually lets her read books or play music and then sits by. Then she would doze off for 15+ min at a time. My husband and i both have seen this. Is this normal?
