Yes, you should absolutely take advantage of FMLA leave. Note I recently asked my firm about this generally and HR told me that in some instances where you may not quite qualify for FMLA, they will give you paid personal leave, so that’s an option too. I would thoroughly investigate your firm’s personal and medical leave policies and take a break. Absolutely nothing to lose! Good luck and good for you for saving!
You can’t get FMLA before 1 year, unfortunately. So the firm could just fire you. In OP’s case, that might not seem like a bad idea.
I like my colleagues, the people are nice, but I just don’t want to do “big law” anymore.
