I lead another staff my level (both Cs). I don't think he's very good or very hardworking, but I feel obligated to give everyone good ratings.

I understand the guilt of holding back someone's career by giving them bad ratings but if you're not providing him actual feedback, he's never going to know he can improve.

What D1 said. Provide constructive feedback and then evaluate if there's improvement from there.

No obligation and in fact if you give him a pass, that will reflect on your ability as well. Being a leader is hard. It will get harder.

Background check question. Had a grad school project on my resume with a company. Project was 8 months work with company and 3 months of prep training. This was considered a volunteer role and I have no W2s or anything associated.

On my BGC I listed the 11 months listed above. My previous resume listed this under my education, so I never had exact dates. Grad school was several years back.

Q1 is this kosher to list 11 months?
Q2 anything I should do to clarify?
Q3 does MBB care about vol?

Would love insight from current or former BAH folks
