You have some DoD, Coast Guard, and NASA down in FL to name the popular ones I’m most familiar with. I’m sure there’s demand for local support down there if it’s something you’re interested in.
On our Navy contract the rule for work is fully remote until after COVID, then “within reasonable distance” (don’t know what that means) of a Navy base. Given that bases are peppered across the US, we’ve had remote workers from Chicago to SD to Houston, DC, etc. Probably worth looking into Navy work for this reason?
DM me. I work for a digital services company fully remote and assuming you have any tech skills we could see if we have a match - we do work at CMS, CDC, VA, HHS.
Most of the contracts require you to be onsite. But once you have built a strong skillset and reputation, you’ll have enough leverage to work remotely. Having solid client relationships helps too.
Great thread. I just left Booz for a federal job that requires relocating abroad. I'm already frustrated with the feds and ready to come back to the private sector, but it'll have to be for double what Booz was paying me.
I'm BAH3. Depends on what you're trying to interview for. If it's SWE, then make sure you leetcode easy/medium. Focus on algorithms and data structures. Cracking the Coding Interview is a great book.
Also make sure you know about some cloud/system architecture.
Don't have advise for the behavioral portion beyond using STAR method to address questions.
As others have mentioned, it would depend on the firm/contract/client. Most federal clients prefer to have face time, but if you’re able to create a good rapport then you could probably slide staying fully remote
Anyone from MITRE willing to share their thoughts/opinions of the company? From what I gather it’s a good WLB and usually interesting work but can be slow paced with little room for career growth and a lot of red tape. Thanks!

Would love to, but looks like I am unable to reach out directly due to your setting. Please advise.
Where did u move
Southern FL. I’d be able to go to Fort Lauderdale/Miami area.
I am fully remote and do fed work. It’s totally possible.

I think with COVID, some contracts are commiting to x% remote work. More so in DC.
