People make mistakes, it happens. No shame in returning. If the job is still there. But why’d you leave in the first place? These reasons probably haven’t gone away since
True. I’m sure not much has changed. There have been some leadership changes but I doubt that would have an impact on my day-to-day. I left because I was stuck working on accounts that kicked us off on creative and then just swirled for 9 months so I was remaking launch plans, comms frameworks, and IAT plans month after month with no work that ever saw the light of day. Right now I’m in a dying office that has barely any client work so I’m constantly being shipped out to other offices to work with and for ppl I’ve never met on clients that don’t know me (so I’m always a voiceless person on a call). I’ve been on 4 pitches in 3 months and working in a very undefined role. When I was interviewing they kept telling me how well defined it was but it really isn’t. So no one know what I do or how/when to use me.
I thought I was making the move of a lifetime but it turns out to be anything but that. It’s just been a really, really tough adjustment.
I’m planning on talking to my manager about it so I can express my concerns and hopefully we can course correct some of the issues in the new year?
I recently did that. Lasted two weeks and knew I had to quit. Best decision ever. Considered the experience a freelance gig. Don't risk your health by staying somewhere you know is wrong.
How long did it take you to find the next opportunity?
I did the same, quit 3 months in, the day of my 90 day review - so it became my exit interview. And when I did, I was honest and everyone was incredibly supportive offering recommendations and offered to keep an open door. Don’t hold back, there’s nothing worse than hating your job. 👍🏻
Did you try to do anything along the way to improve your situation? Thinking of talking to my manager and expressing some of my concerns and feelings now so that maybe we can change things in the new year?! If that doesn’t work at least it’ll buy me time to start job searching?
Same! It blows. It’s not too soon to leave if you really know this clearly already. But ngl going back into the job hunt this time of year sucks.
Good point!! I’m going to stick it out for the year and see how I feel after some time off over the holidays.
