You’re still in the window where it’s not a bad look to return. if you stay much longer it won’t be great, but right now it’s pretty clear that it just wasn’t the right fit. Everyone has one of those on their résumés. Nothing wrong with tryingsomething new, And there may be some things that you learned in your role that you can bring back to the public side.
No sweat. I once had someone give me similar advice. I’ve always tried to pass it on because there’s a lot of perception that it’s bad to leave a job quickly, when in reality almost everyone has one or two places that just weren’t right.
If someone from my team reached out to me about coming back after 6 weeks, I would be so happy. Get in touch with your old boss. Theyll happily have you back
Definitely talk to your old boss. Personally, I’d be happy to take you back and imagine you’d come back with a better work ethic etc after seeing that the grass is not greener on the other side.
Also, is this a bad look? I understand the resume hit, but I am miserable here.

If you can't get back to where you were, EY is hiring nearly across the board. DM me if you need a referral!

EY 3 - did you complete the recent training yet "New Ways of Working"?
Assurance may be much different- not sure. If what you're saying is accurate though, it seems to completely contradict what KG is saying in video clips in this training.
The numbers I threw out were hypothetical, but it's truly what I am expecting. WFH unless client says "be here".
If you left on good terms and they have an opening they will take you back. I’ve seen people do this multiple times at a place I worked. Welcomed back with open arms both employees with promotions. It was actually easier for them to get the title and pay they wanted by leaving and coming back then when they were there. Says something about the industry...
I had a senior in my class do that. Left for a private company with some questionable revenue recognition practices. He was back at KPMG 3 months later and was able to get promoted to manager.
I had a manager leave public and go industry to turn around and come back. I think it just depends on how your relationships are in public. If you were great at what you did, it shouldnt be a problem to return back to public.
I left a small size firm for an industry job, but now I'm back in public at a Big 4 after 6 months in industry. I’m tired. I worked two hours today bc I was exhausted! Now I need to make up 4 hours this weekend and charge two hours to admin, for a total of 8 hours. I'm tired of charge hours! With that being said, best of luck!

Any chance you just haven’t adjusted yet, and could stick it out for one year? If not, go for it. It happens. I had to leave a job after one month once; this was largely because I didn’t want the firm to pay the recruiter only to have me leave soon after. Temped at a small firm until I landed again. Scary but all worked out.
