I like what I do enough, but I know I can't stay in this job if it means traveling. Hubs and I want to start a family and I don't want to miss my kid growing up. How have any of you dealt with this?

There are a lot of posts on this topic, so it might be worthwhile to scroll down. I have a 7 year old. I travel. She doesn’t know anything different. We make it work. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on her growing up. When we do spend time together, it is meaningful. When I travel we FaceTime; sometimes she comes with me. It works for us. It was harder when she was a baby, but has gotten a bit easier as she got older. This job give you a lot of flexibility and financial stability, and I also love it and my daughter knows it; the alternative wouldn’t have been the right answer for me or my family. As a parent, you will make sacrifices regardless; for me, being physically there doesn’t always equate to “their world being better, “ ie quantity doesn’t always equal quality.

Set ground rules- I won’t join a case when traveling three nights is the norm. Try to set up schedule (internal and with clients) that provides an ability to be local more days a week. You have to ask and be comfortable setting boundaries. Helps to have teams that trust your work and you trust as well. Also, need a partner that doesn’t travel as much or a great support network. I have parents an hour away and my husband has his own business, so a little more control over his schedule

Our school instituted a district wide 50% floor/grading policy. If you give a student an assignment and they do nothing, not even write their name, or turn in a blank sheet of paper, they get a 50%. If they score less than 50% on a quiz or test, we have to mark it up to a 50%. This is the new norm and is causing kids to not do work, or just the bare minimum. It has taken the joy out of teaching and has taken away the accountability of students. Anyone else facing this? What do you do?

Ladies, I know Deloitte has 16 week parental leave. What’s the policy for your company ( BCG, Bain, McKinsey, PWC, Etc)? Thanks.

So my wife basically said she doesn’t want to have sex anymore. Don’t want to do anything about it. After couple kids, doesn’t feel it anymore. Also said it wasn’t anything I did and there’s no one else. I understand women’s body changes after child birth but can’t help thinking it’s gonna suck being in a sexless marriage. We’re still attractive and haven’t turned into couch potatoes…yet Happy Thanksgiving!

Turned 30 today. Gotta say I feel fine. Slightly fatter than I’d like to be but I am ok financially, married, and have a baby on the way. Getting 5 months of paid paternity leave (Thanks Accenture!) so hopefully will be able to ride out the tail-end of ‘rona.

I need recommendations for nice maternity work pants. My office is WFH but I occasionally need to go in. I’m 16 weeks (first pregnancy) and today realized in a panic when I attempted to get dressed that my work pants are either too tight in the waist to wear or getting there. I’m tall (5’10”) and usually wear Theory, Rag and Bone or J. Crew work pants. Any suggestions for nice black maternity pants that I could pair with a blouse or blazer? Thx!!

How long are you considered a “baby lawyer”?

Just started working at a big law firm about 3 weeks ago in a completely different field than I expected nor wanted to be in (but I needed to start working asap). I’m just a baby lawyer but I can’t stop shaking the feeling that I don’t even want to be a lawyer. Is this just nerves? the environment? or is this an even normal feeling?

When is the earliest you’d suggest taking a pregnancy test? Took one and got a negative result 9 days post ovulation but have read you should wait at least 10-12 days post ovulation? If so - why do tests claim “6 days before missed period?” Tryna have a pre-busy season baby problems 😂! Thanks in advance!

I’ve been having a hard time during the pandemic WFH. I’ve been diagnosed with major depression & anxiety. I don’t interact much with others for work and have been able to keep this to myself. We have yr end reviews coming up. I know it will be a bad one for me. I’ve invested in 2x/week therapy (at a financial loss) to improve my health. I’m feeling better. Is there anything that a staff could do/say at reviews that would cause you to give them a 2nd chance? I love it here and want to improve.

From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.
