Leave. Even if they give you a raise it likely won’t be remotely comparable to what you could get on the open market for analytics/DS in tech. Can’t hurt to ask but think about what’s a number that’s going to make you not consider leaving and don’t settle. Make it a high number that matches market rates in tech…chances are they don’t give it to you. Maybe they give you a 20% 🍪 but you could get 100% 🥩 externally. Don’t fall for the cheap 🍪

Salary maybe…stock grants/refreshers make up a bigger component, that’s another story. Stonks keep going up too, but even outside of that. Also terminal levels for technical ICs or first level ppl managers tend to be quite high…not sure about your specific skill set and yoe for more ml/algo DS it can be 350-600 range for more analytics 250-400. If your not at terminal level yet you can still see good tc growth just by moving up a level and/or becoming first line ppl manager.

My suggestion is to leave or else you will just resent not leaving because even if they give you a raise now, they will not give you more later. If your skills are truly marketable then there is no hotter market than right now. Best of luck!

Leave asap. Consulting values tech skills but because of culture and what they can bill for their competence, consulting will never pay more for hard tech skills than strategy "skills".

What comp can we expect to target after 2 YOE? I’m not miserable in consulting but don’t think I get paid enough. With my promotion in a month, I’ll be hitting 100k and I want to only leave if I can get 110k or more (going for strategy, PM, and a few startup roles). Is that realistic? whens the best time to leave for max comp in the long term?

Just finished my first year in Big 4 Tech Consulting. Got highest possible marks and am starting to get frustrated by lackluster learning opportunities (still have not met a soul that I work with in person) and the allure of consulting is completely dead for me at this point. I know the job market at Tech companies is hot right now… but I feel I may be a bit too early to jump ship. Should I wait until the first big promotion / increase for leverage, or is Big Tech actually hiring 1 YoE Analysts?

I work at a traditional actuarial consulting firm on the heath benefits side and don’t really find the work very interesting. I’m kept by short term promise of a nice promotion, and competitive pay. I’ve recently started thinking about a next move, but am torn about which direction to go in. I’ve pondered a few options: working at a traditional carrier, switching to a different kind of consulting, or non-traditional work. All of my connections are in consulting not insurance, anyone have advice?
