Go onto linked in and look for people whose former company is this company. See where they’ve ended up.
This is great advice
Personal healthcare products is a way to position this on a future resume. Unless you were looking into a career at a future faith based organization or church I say you’re okay.
Personally, I wouldn't want to work for someone that would judge me based on products made by a company I had an accounting job at. Seems pretty shortsighted and closed minded. I mean, then you can't work at a company manufacturing guns because some are against them. And you can't work at a medical facility or a pharmacology company because some people believe immunizations cause autism. You're not making the products, you're doing accounting. I would take it
I totally agree. And being an engineer at a sex toy manufacturer could be pretty complicated. There are a lot of things that go into design and development of the toys. Product is a product. And design or engineering of it could be pretty interesting. I worked as an engineer in male prosthetics. Close enough to this. It was very interesting and complicated.

I mean experience is experience. I don’t think it should matter unless you plan to work at some anti sex toy engineering company.
Or a church? That’s the only other way I could see this being an issue
Unfortunately yes it might be. If you’re seriously considering it, think through the career goals you have and what you think you’ll gain from this position (ie skills) and what opportunities / exit opps do you think you’ll have afterwards.
Also look on linked in and see who has worked there and where they are now. That might be a good insight into it being a career limiting move. If you’re extra curious, you might want to reach out to them and see if they can provide insights into the company / role.
She might learn a lot of new “positions” from this role 😝 haha sorry, I couldn’t refrain!
It’s better than working for a company associated with the industrial war complex.
Actually it’s pretty good over here 🤷♀️

Actually. It’ll be an awesome interview topic! When our hiring freeze and layoff waves are over, I’d like to talk to you!
Are you planning to work for an evangelical think tank in the future??? It might be a benefit…. All jokes aside it isn’t a product that is hurting people or the environment.. I am sure that industry had a boost after COVID. Also can petro chemical, pharma, medical , retail industries have the moral high ground in anything? They only have a veneer of morality.
They would think for 5 minutes and move on! Like the others I would advise linkedin and Glassdoor company reviews from candidates. Also think about how long do you plan on working for the company. If six figures isn’t common in the city? Are you ok with going back to a regular paying job if you wind up not liking the culture? Since you’re an Engineer is the role remote? Engineers don’t need to be hybrid.
OP we don't care as recruiters and will pass you on for an interview, but some hiring managers are stuck in the stone age for literally everything. If you go for companies that are more modern in their ways, you should be fine
Depends on the company, but I think if you are an engineer the tech products you work with will be more important than what products the company sells.
I think if you highlight things like: manufacturing process improvements or website driven sales or whatever your job is then I can’t foresee a problem. You’re in charge of your resume. So focus on key metrics used in a retail/wholesale or manufacturing industry.

Money is great however the culture and growth opportunity is important to research and see if you believe it would be a great fit
That may be why the salary is higher than normal because they have a hard time finding people that want to work for the company. There is always going to be unnecessary judgement on things, could it make the next job more difficult, yes. But will the next job pay as much?
I used to sell sex toys and lubricants etc as a side line before Covid, and as someone said the engineering and R&D that goes into making those products is incredible. If anyone judges you on that, are you sure you want to be working for them?
I worked for a successful company that sold sex toys. Frankly doing so opened up many offers of employment elsewhere :). And sex stores are kind of recession proof :). I was proud I worked there and still am so grateful for that experience. Ultimately it has to feel right for you. It’s not for everyone.
It’s a thriving industry and is an opportunity for works go forth and crush it.
Isn't it problematic that sexual pleasure is seen as taboo?
I would not work anywhere that inhibits that tbh.
Furthermore sex toys use engineering for design, worry about safety and get fcc approvals if it is something that is connected to your phone.
Some toy industry do more engineering than the average.
When it comes to marketing they do better than Disney while they may not call themselves the happiest place on earth outright they are the happiest place on earth and their customers share their product.
They are a really big industry too. Especially operating with judgment etc I wonder how they do it.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
People work in industries that sell weapons haven't hinged their career one bit why would industry that sell pleasure be a problem?
Might be a life long job! If the sales are good why would you leave! Go for it!
Honestly you work where it is going to benefit you. They don't pay your bills you do.. I have a best friend in the sex toy industry and he thought the same things at first when he first started working for his first company now he is an award winning sex educator that has grown in the sex toy industry. He is amazing. So honestly if the company just makes the toys you have no problems because you don't make the toys. You don't approve them to be made. You don't tell the higher ups what to make and what not to make. But on the other hand you never know where it could take you.. A bigger and better life.. take a chance..
