Sounds like a pretty high salary for BA
Why only 200 - why not go for 400?
You poor, simple, sweet SOB
As someone who has interviewed with upwards of 15 companies with 8+YoE in business analysts roles around DC, you’re lucky to be offered 100K even; with a clearance. I have received many.
Boss up and pivot your resume to program or director level for real money FFS
Have a few. You’re highlighting the many variables in play in your retort; like mention of city/CoL. Still nowhere near 200, brah. Also, I don’t pursue them; they come my way. I’m upwards of 150 range, and that immediately turns them away.
Hahah from a lifetime NOVA person, good luck with that! Suggest you check out NYC

You could get closer to that in professional services than industry.
Will be tough to hit that comp below Director level at places like Freddie, Fannie, Cap1.
The credit unions will be lower.
Honestly your average BA in industry makes low six figures
What’s your current level, YOE, and specialization?
200k ??? !!!! I think that’s steep
Yeah that doesn't really happen in nova
Mentor
Agreed, that’s why I’ve spent my whole career on the road. Getting NYC / tier 1 comp in NOVA makes a big difference.
Lol. $200k BA!? Most BA’s I know make $75k to $105k in DC.
Mentor
Yea, but your average BA in DC is developing BRDs for the government.
I chatted with the OP and they are doing highly specialized work in project leadership roles and can already command their exit target in consulting.
They are just looking for local exits that will pay competitively.
OP will need to target director roles in banking / lending where they are leading a small team to hit their comp in industry.
