I live in NY, but work in CT. I noticed my paycheck has CT withholding, but no NY withholding. I spoke to HR and they said this is normal and they can’t change it. They said they’ll allocate certain CT taxes to pay for NY at year end, but I find that unusual. Anyone else have a similar situation?

There are some snarky replies…just because someone works in tax doesn’t mean they have expertise or even general knowledge of everything tax.

If someone works in financial accounting, are they expected to know every account standards and methods?
