Right!?! I love the people without medical degrees, phds in science plus years of vaccine research experience who state that they have “read up on it and formed their own opinion.”
Do they really think that’s true? Do they not at all, even an eentsy bit, recognize their bias?
(Fwiw I know one of the vaccine guys irl, one you’ve maybe seen on tv or read about. He’s the only guy at the party who gets my full attention when vaccine science comes up. I don’t care that your aunt didn’t have antibodies after hers or that your neighbor said her second shot caused gout..)
Remember kids - if all the experts think you’re wrong - there’s a very small chance that you’re a brilliant person endowed with unique foresight who can see through the fog... but yeah, it’s overwhelmingly likely you’re just wrong. Really wrong and probably actually motivated by some related anxiety or concern that got you stuck in the trap of irrational fear / conspiracy theory in the first place, ironically. The sad humor of the whole thing is the people who think those who listen to experts are “sheeple”, are themselves the sheep being led.
Henry from Wendy’s might not know as much about a vaccine as an “expert” but you’re right we should never read into public research studies ourselves, listen to other “experts” in the same field with differing conclusions, or formulate our own risk tolerance. We should totally only listen to what the nice people on TV tell us. I’ll get vaccinated when my age group is up and hopefully everyone that can will soon as well.
