I lost my dad and it doesn’t feel real. Does anyone have any advice on how to mourn the loss of a parent ? It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through in my entire life.

I lost my dad when I was 9 and didn't mourn his loss until I was 25. Give yourself space to feel all of the feelings - grief, sadness, gratitude for everything this person has given you, etc. There's no timeframe on how long it takes to process these emotions. Some days will be harder than others. Talk to your loved ones. I'm sorry for your loss ❤

I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2019...in just starting to feel okay. There is a big hole in your heart and nothing can fill it. It is the hardest thing to go through. I echo D1 and EY 1. One thing I would point out is that I found myself wanting to find the old me ( driven, happy, level of confidence, etc) but realized I’m a different person now. Priorities change, personality changes. And that is okay. Overtime you will gain back those positive Attributions but now..you get to add so much depth. Write daily journals and practice gratitude for now. 🙂

I am so sorry. I lost my dad 9 years ago and while time does help, that loss is always there. Dads are special people. I was a daddy’s girl and we were very close. Cherish your memories ❤️❤️❤️

My father passed December 22nd last year. Today I cried because something reminded me of him. All I can say is that I’m so so sorry for your loss. Take the time you need, truly. For me, the first week it was hard to sleep and later I woke up in panic. Cry all that you want and need. Feel your feelings and reach out to a grieve person if you need to. This is the first thing I did because I did not know who else to call that wasn’t my siblings or mother. I didn’t want to hear their pain, I wanted to air mine out. It is hard for a while. Some days it will get better. Some days it’ll be worse. I will say that culturally, black is for morning and I didn’t stop wearing after three months. I grew attachment to it and I felt guilty not wearing it. It felt like I was letting go of his memory. I would dream about him all the time, it was just him and I talking. I miss that the most in the days where my self-esteem is on the floor. This was a long way to say, you may experience grief in many ways. I am here for you if you ever want to talk. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.

Advice is this: have a support system. Someone who will be with you when you're afraid to go to sleep or be alone, someone who will sit by you while you stare blankly in the horizon, someone who will just show up. It'll take years to feel normal and you'll need someone to just be there with you through your emotions.

Do what you feel at the moment. Cry if you want to cry, be alonE, etc. What I remember was that, it either hurt less over time or I became used to it. Eventually you learn to recognize it happened but it doesn't hurt as mucj

First off, I’m so sorry for your loss. Nothing prepares you for losing a parent. If you have pictures, making a memory collage helps. The process of creating or getting photos that remind of you him will allow for introspection and you to face your emotions. Trying to engage in hobbies he liked or you enjoyed together and reminiscing on times you had together help as well. Try to spend time with his friends who can remind you of happier times. Lastly, take it one day at a time.

I'm very sorry for your loss, I can't say I personally experienced it, but my boyfriend of 4 years has. His dad died 11 years ago, mom 6. He has never allowed himself to grieve and has held it in for so long. I'm trying my best to support him and let him talk about it whenever he feels up for it. We have recently bought a house and I'm helping him to go through all the stuff that belonged to his parents (it has not been touched since they passed), it is difficult, but at the same time it brings a sense of relief going through those memories they had. I know it is heartbreaking, but try to talk to someone, remember the good times and keep celebrating the important dates. Your dad will always be there for you, looking over you ❤️

I really need advice from moms with school aged children- it’s the third f-ing week of school and I’ve gotten two notes from the teacher about my 8year old. First - he doesn’t sit still so fell off his chair, struggles with keeping his mask on, calls out, and a student pinched him. I apologized and said I’ll talk to him about mask wearing etc., Second note today just is making me lose my mind! She said he passed a note to his desk mate saying stop putting your stuff everywhere, child wrote back.

Not even one meltdown in a week and he is saying he doesn’t want nanny but only school. I am searching for a nanny for the baby, contd.

I really want a 3rd kid (and 4th). My OB says she wouldn’t tell someone like me not to have another kid but she’d like me to deliver before I’m 35 because I’ll already be high risk for 2 reasons: 1. I had 2 full term pregnancies but have a short cervix requiring progesterone suppositories for both. 2. I had severe pre e with my first and then high blood pressure and early pre e indicators with my 2nd (but was induced before a pre e diagnosis). Anyone in a similar boat gone for a 3rd?

D's PDM model is an absolute shit show. You work just as much, not much of a chance for remote, 20-30% lower pay structure and the benefits are absolutely shit. For paternity leave pdm gets 2 weeks while core get 16 weeks. Talk about taking advantage of it's employees. I can't wait to get out! Just FYI, those of you want to join make sure you are core and nothing else.

Inspired by the stroller question from yesterday: I’m having my first baby in December, and I don’t know what kind of stroller to get! A few things top of mind for me: I’m 4’10” so don’t want it to be huge and I want to be able to see over it, I would like it to work from newborn up to toddler, I’ll probably have a second within 2 years so want it to be convertible. Planning for everyday use in a small city. What are your recommendations?

While our job doesn’t allow us to have the capacity to heal ourselves, we should do what we can with the little time we have to make sure we’re okay as well.

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city?
