I lost my father a few months ago and I’m not coping well. Has anyone used an employee assistance program for this? Should I just seek a counselor privately?

I’d suggest finding a therapist outside EAP. You only get a few sessions via eap and it’s hard to build a rapport with them over that short of a period. Health insurance should cover it. Find someone in network.

After my mom’s death I took advantage of the six free therapy sessions provided through my firm’s EAP. I then continued with that therapist and they billed through insurance. It can take time to build rapport but that will be the case regardless of where you find your therapist. Stick with it and get the help you need.

Sorry to hear that, yes absolutely reach out to the help lines . there is no shame in realizing that you need help. They are supper supportive give it a try

Sorry to hear that OP. If you work in Deloitte, yes there is an employee program for this. I never use one but I personally would prefer to find one privately. Normally your health insurance covers it too.

Privately

Definitely recommend counseling. It just helps through the grief and can be very comforting.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Especially tough time to lose anyone right now. Please let me know if there’s anything your fellow fish can do to comfort you.
