I love listening to PPEDDs talk about issues we r having w\ Mercury like there was nothing anyone could have done. Like dude, you had 3+ yrs of dev and yet we have to search client names like *client*

You really don’t understand that the vast majority of us only saw it for the first time when we had our training on it over the summer. It was a black box to the partners as well. We solely kept hearing what it cost and they even stopped telling us that because we complained. We also knew that there were massive problems when Germany and Canada first implemented, but were told those were worked out now

likefunny

Hahaha Partner 1 sounds like a partner in my office. “If you think you’re unhappy with Mercury, I don’t even want to go back and calculate how much I actually paid for this. I had to pay for this."

funnylike

EY2 - yes. Why do you think we are equally pissed. We paid for this. Mercury was built over a period of many years. That is why it is 1970s technology So it wasn’t paid out all at once. I do not know when development on it started but 3 years or so ago we were told it was 10% over budget. That put it a $1.1B. The partners exploded. Wanted to know who was being fired, etc etc They stoped telling us the cost after that so my $1.5B is an estimate. I think a good one. But may be off by $100M or and it was paid for by the global firm.

Also a partner here - Mercury program started at least 8 years ago - and it is a global program. SAP is built for corporations, not partnerships and that’s a big part of why it is so complicated and has taken so long to implement. And I’m sure that’s adding to the issues we’re having now. And almost by definition, it has to be an old version of the software given how long it’s been in development. All the people that are to blame for such a terrible idea that was then badly executed are long gone - retired before they could be retired. It’s very frustrating - where’s the accountability?

So yes the partners are equally frustrated but what’s the point of wasting time complaining about it - at this point we just have to figure out how to live with it and make sure it gets upgraded over time to do what we need it to do, efficiently and intuitively.

Agree with Partner 1. This was done at the top of EY and 99% of partners had no involvement in it.
