I love my job as an Asst. State’s Attorney and thought the pandemic would be relaxing, but it’s only overwhelmed my mid-sized office. The micromanaging, juggling multiple dockets, etc. and resolutions of nearly no cases..making a move to big firm is looking more attractive. Is it just me?

There is really only one reason to move to a big firm: money.

You lost me at “thought the pandemic would be relaxing”.

hey ASA fam. left my safe ASA job for insurance defense that paid twice as much, i took it because i have a child, i got my 20 trials, etc, and they let me go under a month later under very questionable circumstances. Just keep in mind that civil is a different realm, plays by different rules, anything can happen. Insurance mills like that one pay well but it seems they are fine treating hard-working attorneys very poorly. Luckily, I had two job offers within a few weeks, I hustle, and I'll be just fine. That place has a bad rep, sorry to say it. So let mine be your cautionary tale; be very diligent and look before you leap. Make sure you have the right opportunity and fit before you give up the nice, safe ASA gig, especially right now. Don't be fooled or blinded by the big money offer, and do your research. Even though I did plenty of my own, I still ended up getting hosed for no reason. Hope this was moderately helpful. Good luck to you fam !

Hello fellow state attorney... this catch up business is wild and the worst. I’m also exhausted, tired of the micromanaging from all angles general runaround so from everyone. I have been trying to get out of government law since the beginning of the year (pre-pandemic) and it’s AWFUL out there trying to find someone to even call you back about a job. Stay strong! Good luck out there!

Moms, do you have recommendations for formula? My baby is 5 and half months old, and I want to supplement with formula, just a few ounces every day. She had some Similac and enfamil samples, and don’t have any negative reaction with either.

Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?

Applied to McKinsey via the referral portal. Been a week+ and haven’t heard back. Is it safe to realistically assume it will probably be a no?

10 years ago today I had my tubes tied. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. It took years standing up to practitioners, reiterating my preference, and fighting for medical decisions over my own body. Ten years later and it was all worth it. No hormones, no condoms, no risk of making the hard decisions some I know have had to make. For anyone contemplating it, for anyone fighting with their docs, don’t give up if it’s what you really want.
