Do it afraid cause fear is your motivation.
What do you mean, “even better?” Good job, good company, good people go a long way. Just remember, the grass isn’t always greener...
I have a family. No savings. And no 6 month rainy day fund to take any risks. So how do I begin looking for something new without jeopordizing what I have? Is it a recruiter or headhunter agency? And what does that process look like, what are the agencies in NY? I just want to begin exploring. I'm not looking for a drastic leap at this stage in my life. The whole boomerang thing I get, but I also understand that loyalty isnt always rewarded. Interested in any and all thoughts or advice on this front. Thanks in advance for your time!
I feel like I’m missing some context here. Are you scared of looking or of leaving? There’s no risk in looking. You’re a VP - you’ve never changed jobs or even looked elsewhere? How does that even happen?
@SD1, the short version of the question is, what are the strategies to start looking that you would reccomend. Not afraid to look, but not experienced with that process in this world. Because you are correct. I have not worked for another agency but the one I'm in. I came to agency world later in life, so started at a senior level and worked my way up from there. Not a traditional agency path for sure.
Here are some ideas: 1. On LinkedIn, you can let recruiters know that you are open to new opportunities. Only recruiters can see this. 2. LinkedIn, Indeed to name a couple post jobs. You can setup your job alerts for the positions that you are interested in. 3. Get out there. Most jobs come by word of mouth. Attending industry functions is a good way to hear about opportunities.
First step is to get your CV in a good place. Most jobs I feel are starting to get reviewed by AI before actually getting to a “real person”- add some key words that align with your experience and job listings that spark interest.
