I love New York, I’m just having trouble making sense financially of doing it. I could make what I make here while living in Florida…. Given Covid.

Simple cost/benefit. No guarantee how long this is going to last of course so you might find yourself looking for another job at some point. Of course in biglaw this has been the calculation for years already.

This is all I’ve been calculating for months now 😭 I don’t want to go back and spend all my money again. Basically had no savings while living in NYC

NYC doesn’t always make the most sense financially. It’s great for many people, particularly the young to build their careers, but all things considered the take home after taxes and high COL is not that great. It doesn’t help that there’s so many great restaurants and things to do to discourage people from saving. That’s why many people that actually want to save more money move out eventually.

Question for everyone out there, I am a business analyst and thinking about exploring new career opportunities. What are the thoughts of the job market right now for folks who are currently employed? Is it smart to try and look for a new job right now in this climate, or should I wait it out until post Covid? I feel like I might be one of the first ones let go if I go elsewhere, and I know that many people are looking for jobs due to Covid related layoffs.

What has helped you as you grieved the loss of a parent? My husband has just lost 3 family members, including his dad, to covid. They aren't in the US and died waiting for hospital beds.
