I love patient care and have over 20 years experience and extra certifications, but I’m wondering if it’s time to switch to non clinical work or PRN at various places to get paid more since I’m topped out. Anyone make a big change in their PT career. I’d love to hear.

Recently switched from full time clinical care (Geriatric Certified specialist doing Part B in the home) to clinical liaison for home health. Pay is in line with clinical but opportunity for bonus and advancement. Also able to work remotely which is a huge plus with gas at its current prices and while their is documentation involved I’m done at the end of the day and not spending nights/weekend catching up. So glad I made the switch!

Also 11 yrs clinical experience plus 2.5 yrs Ops management before making the switch.

Capped out PT in Illinois out patient orthopedics. Making a pretty decent salary but burned out with patient care.
Anyone have a suggestion of remote positions that would pay over $100k

Same and looking for similar—non clinical role paying over 100k

25 yrs plus topped out , outpatient ortho Illinois, following this looking for some change

Additional Posts in Physical Therapy

Have you ever needed physical therapy yourself? If so, what made it a positive experience (or a negative one)? Dedicated to improving patient comfort and support at our clinic.

Out of curiosity - what drove you/inspired you to become a physical therapist? Did you always want to be one?

How to be a good supervisor/mentor? I'm supervising a new PTA for the first time (which feels crazy!!) and want to make sure they get what they need out of it and have a good experience.

How much should a home care physical therapist part A be making? In new York 2 years out of school.

Hi Everyone,

In January I'll start as a freelance physical therapist at a a practice in the Hague, Netherlands.
I negotiated a salary of 65% of the revenue I make for that practice. I was wondering if you think that percentage is fair or not.
I have approx 5 years of PT work experience and have a University degree in Human Movement Sciences.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello! I will have my first interview as a PTA soon! What are some of the most common questions? Any tips/advice?

I have a friend who I went to school with and trained with, who I thought was a really thoughtful person and physical therapist. All of a sudden over the last like 3-4 months she's become an "influencer" if you can call it that, for PT. She's constantly posting things like, "low back pain? do these 4 moves every night to get rid of it." It's irresponsible IMO, like the PT version of flat tummy tea or gummies that make you lose weight.

Anyone ever done a traveling PTA position? What was your experience? Was it worth it? I know the on boarding is limited and usually thrown to the wolves in those positions. Just wondering if anyone has had any good experiences and dos and donts.

I’m a Clinic Manager in IL. Wondering what everyone’s front desk is getting paid? We’ve had so many front desk coordinators leaving and it seems to be because of pay. It’s very frustrating because we are losing the good one! Wondering if anyone else is running into this and how you are combating it?

What is the typical hourly rate for PRN PT jobs in hospital based settings and/or home health in the Nashville area?

How much does physical therapist make in the Hospital? And what are the benefits usually? Any ideas with the range I can ask. I'm torn between working in hospital or outpatient clinic.

Does anyone work for one of the telehealth PT companies like Sword or RecoveryOne? How is the pay structured? Are you able to actually treat the patients or is it just an algorithm?

Moving to Phoenix, AZ. I’m 7 years out (mainly Neuro/Trauma/ Acute). Any recommendations on hospitals to apply to?

Negotiating salary for a full time position after being a PRN for the company. I’m a new grad with a little over a year of experience. Any outside of the box advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hey all. My advice for fellow “new grads” I’m 2 years out. But my advice is to try and jump into travel PTA or PT with an agency. My take home has been 1.4K - 1.7k weekly working in SNF mostly. But i don’t feel burnt out and I feel like im in control of my career. Also it’s good for networking around the country.

Has anyone been in a situation where they felt psychologically unsafe when treating a patient? Where the patient is not being truthful about what happened in a private treatment room? I am wondering how others have handled a situation like this. For reference I am in an outpatient orthopedic clinic. Patient is making claims about things that were inappropriately said or done that did not happen.

Average salary range for OP ortho PT in Nashville (close to downtown area) with 4-5 years experience?

How many of you have or receive productivity bonus? How much is it in your case? I was just offered one for the first time.

This may sound petty but I really wish people would understand that physical therapy is an actual doctoral science and not on the same level as massage therapy or whatever else. Just heard a friend say their personal trainer is also a physical therapist and it pissed me off! I didn't go through 7 years of school so people would think I was on the same level as a spa attendant basically. AITA?
