I love to tell jokes and laugh, but do you think being funny is a plus in consulting or in corporate?

Big plus IF other people actually find you funny. If they don’t, big minus.

like

This. Jokes are about the listener's enjoyment, not the teller's

I actually don’t trust coworkers that have no sense of humor or take themselves waaay to seriously.

Yes

Have someone on my team who loves telling jokes, but nobody finds him funny, so it’s just awkward silence when he tells joke

like

Sounds like this director on a call Friday.

I joke a lot. But I have a morbidly dry and sarcastic sense of humor so a lot of times it catches people off guard. Obv I don't joke during super serious meetings but a funny, clever, witty remark here or there breaks the ice and makes you come across as more reachable. It helps also that you're good at what you do and are a decent person. The funny + smart + decent combo is key

Read Indyk’s biography of Kissinger while he was negotiating with Sadat, Meir, Rabin, and Assad. Part of the reason he was able to keep things going was because he kept his counterparts laughing their heads off.

I’ve been doing this far too long. Thankfully not working Mondays these days lol.

Funny, laughable, jokester? Not that important.

Friendly, engaging, making people feel they are at the center of the universe? Very important.

There’s a big difference.

like

Are you funny like Cousin Greg or more like Roman?

like

Generally a plus, and I’m the same way. Although I’d say just be mindful of the time, place, and your audience.

like

Definitely a plus, but you need a filter. I approach it as “I don’t want to be a robot, but also still need to be professional”. And certainly need to read the room

like

100%. Teams love you more. Clients see you as real. And can you imagine working without fun. I’m a p. It worked for me

like

Tell us a joke!

As long as there's laughter

Everyone loves Chanandler Bong

Humor is great. Makes work more enjoyable. But like most things it has to resonate and be appropriate for the timing/setting/audience. If it doesn’t or isn’t, you won’t be doing yourself any favors.

What if some people ain’t funny lol. They listen and talk but can’t be humorous

Hey fellow fish. I’m wanting some reference to an eclectic editing style that incorporates a bunch of filmic styles into the narrative. Not in a Womb Stories way, but more in an Uncommon B&Q Build a Life way. The reference I’m thinking of cuts away to vintage black and white footage and even old cartoons. I just can’t for the life of me remember what it was for. Any suggestions would be massively appreciated!

I’m thinking of buying a designer belt and have been eyeing this one from Dior. Is it a waste to spend $660+tax on a plain black belt w just the logo? I also considered Gucci but think it’s too everywhere. Also thinking Hermes but may need to justify myself for the price hike. I’m 30F and want to get something that is versatile (dress up / casual) and long lasting in terms of style. Appreciate any recs!
