Why am I being ghosted by companies after clearing the first round? It has happened twice now including American Express . Is this a norm? Why are the recruiters first informing me I have cleared the first round and a second would be scheduled and then ghosting? Of course I am (trying to) not take it to heart but is this common? I just did the math and… this more or less adds up 🙈
I’m a woman with long hair who lives in a very HCOL city. And I go to high-end salons (but not even the most high-end for my city).
If you’re curious, here’s the breakdown…
- $1000 ($500 / 2 x a year) for balayage (color my hair)
- $900 ($150/ every other month) for a cut and blowout
- $1176 ($98 x 12) for my monthly Drybar membership that includes two blowouts a month
I have great, healthy hair. But it’s long, a lot, naturally wavy/ curly, and takes me forever just to dry it. I hate the process of doing it myself. Getting my hair done is part of my self-care routine… it’s so relaxing. I can easily afford it. And I don’t need to justify it 🙃

Thank you for the detailed response! This makes a lot of sense to me.

My wife cut my hair… cost is definitely more than $4k/yr.
Just imagine how much it cost to keep wifey happy so that I don’t end up like this

$4000/yr at salons is $333 a month. How does anyone spend that amount? That’s basically an expensive cut and color every month. How do you have hair left at that point? Wouldn’t you be cutting at a faster rate than it grows? What are you coloring every month? I have so many questions.

Ahh, yes, that makes sense for coloring in that case.

4k a year is insane and not reasonable at all. I have long thick ass hair that I highlight blonde all year and it doesn’t even come close to that…😭😂🧐

I don’t spend $4k a year but I will say that I’ve experimented over the years with stylists at different price points and you definitely get what you pay for. If you have good hair it helps a lot with overall perception.
Confession...I have long hair and needed a trim really bad. Went to Great Clips over the weekend and spent $20. Totally happy with it. I'm over the high end salon thing...it is definitely a luxury!
