The lines between marketing and PR are blurring. Bring marketing thinking to your PR accounts, don’t call it marketing, and see what happens.
It sounds like you are too experienced for your new junior position since you’re probably doing mostly executional work. There’s a lot of opportunity for your experience in Strategy and Planning especially as PR evolves more into paid media. I’d recommend volunteering for projects and giving your input and ideas where you think it makes sense. This is much more well received in smaller agencies and or companies where you aren’t perceived as stepping on toes.
Don’t settle & float, when you can swim. You were meant to lead. There’s a great company out there who will see the value in FIFTEEN years of marketing experience which is not that different than PR. Plus PR is not hard. You deserve better!
Marketing is boring. Comms is fun. Comms is basically the marketing at some places, so you can become a key person quickly.
Comms can be just as creative as long as you like writing.
Maybe you need to be on the creative side
Off topic, but how different is marketing from PR? i currently work in PR but I think something in marketing sounds more in alignment with what i want, so i might switch to marketing just don’t really know how
