I made the transition out of accounting (Big 4) and into the recruitment for accountants world almost two years ago now and it was the BEST decision I ever made. Highly encourage anyone who isn’t passionate about what they do and hates going into work every day to really ponder on whether it’s worth being miserable the rest of your life, especially when we spend SOOO much time at work. Why not really love and enjoy what you do? I get excited for Mondays and a new week of opportunities now

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??

Yet I have had some interesting convos for people manager roles in insights recently and wondering if I should maybe refocus my efforts there. I’m looking for a broader mandate than just my immediate pipeline. I have been enjoying insights but grow frustrated by the lack of decision-making power. I rather would want to take a path with high long term career potential.

I’m applying to an internal position in a different field. I have some respect in this field at the company even though it’s not my dedicated role currently. current and applying roles are both non-tech. The new field isn’t an issue IMO, but it’s 3 grades above where I currently am. My skills are very transferable, and I have good rapport with the leader I’m applying to work under—who directly sent the job posting my way. How can I prove I’m able to perform at the level of this job?

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant.
