I make 140k base 10-15k bonus working remotely in Chi. If my objective is to make more money, should I hop to sales engineering/something similar? I don't see myself becoming a leetcode rockstar and continuing to be able to get higher paying normal engineer roles. I also am a pretty social guy.

Roughly 3 years of xp.

If you're only 3 years in, I'd say there's still a decent amount of room for growth in either role. If you're particularly social though, I'd definitely lean more toward sales engineering.

Yeah, sounds like Sales Engineering would be a really great fit for you and your skillset based on all that. If the path at your current company doesn't suit your interests there are plenty of places hiring right now and I think it would be a relatively easy switch for you to make based on your experience.

If you're getting tired of the LC grind and looking to make a change I think Sales Engineering is a great move. Let us know if you have any more questions.

@E1 I am looking to make a transition but I’m not sure how

Sales Engineers can make plenty more than that depending on the comp plan. If you think you will enjoy being customer facing I say take the risk. With actual tech background you'll likely be able to sell at a higher level if the social skills are there. Also any top sales rep has plenty of upward mobility regardless of company. Worst-case you return to a dev job? Go for it!

Still I'm preferring deutsche bank because a stint of finance may open up plenty of exit options for me. Also should I ask deutsche bank to counter zs offer? Im planning to join Deutsche Bank, they have already extended my date of joining now if I say I got an offer on last moment it would make a bad impression.
