I make around 100k a year gross and have about 85k in savings. What do you think I can comfortably afford to buy?

What does your debt look like?

It’s gonna really depend on where you live and what your risk profile is. Lending is going to add your rent payment and new payment into DTI. You might be able to include some rent income to boost the payment allowable.

If you’re not living in it, expect a downpayment of 20%-25% and a higher interest rate.

A car

That down payment would mean you’re in the $450k range

You could buy a $250k place easy in your sleep

$250k rental unit

Southeast and Central have lot’s of single family options..

Bad question

You didn’t provide any details other than income and savings. What are you looking to do? Are you
Looking to buy for cash flow, appreciation, equity parking? How low of a down payment are you willing to put? What’s your interest rate? Notice how all the replies are further questions, and the one guy that gave you a straight number wasn’t even helpful . Gonna need all the details to give you a relevant answer

Is this for you to live in or rent out?

What are your expenses? $250k seems reasonable.

What market?

Hard to know just based on your gross. What is your take-home and spend each month?

When I was buying I set my budget as my rent + 80% of monthly savings towards downpayment, then calculated how larger of a mortgage I could take.

I would try and stay under $300k.

Not much in New Jersey unless you go out in the sticks away from Manhattan. Without knowing where you are it’s hard to say what’s realistic. Otherwise, just put your info into an affordability/mortgage calculator from google.

I am currently a year from finishing my PhD and was looking at VC's as a career path because I like to do meta-analysis of different climate change techs. I networked with VCs and one of them was receptive but didn't have the budget currently for a full time hire. They said they'd be interested in working with me to do a research paper over the coming semester, and was wondering if I could leverage this into a full time offer?

Is a white paper with a VC going to be attractive on my CV?

Just bought a new primary residence that needs work. Current home has ~$100k equity after buying in 2019 with <$20k down (appreciated around 20% in the last 3 years, in a major metro area). Would you:

1) Lock in the appreciation & sell now. Use some for renovations/other investments.

2) Keep for another 2-3 years & rent out for a small cash flow (<100/month if self-managing), get a HELOC if needed. Note it would not pass my investment criteria if buying today.

3) other approach?

About to sell a place for some decent gains. It’s an investment property and I’m thinking of doing a 1031 exchange. Has anyone done this? Any tips?

This is for my real estate agents. I’m brand new into the business and I adore the work. What tips or pointers can you give to a new agent- I’m in Las Vegas if it helps to be specific. Looking to buy a home, would have to sell in 3 years. So want the home price to stay at least same as buying price for next 3 years (totally fine if it increases)

What should I focus on?
- Condo/townhouse/detached
- Construction year - last 5/10/20/30 year old

I know market is crazy, so just want to know if there are any safe bets. Home price below 350k would be profitable as per my rent vs. buy model. Just sound checking the assumption - price does not drop

Hello real estate 🐠 - this may be a silly question/mindset, but my husband & I are trying to purchase a house next year but the thought of asking a realtor to show us house after house is stressful. I know it’s their job, but I wish there were more independent ways to look at houses on our own as I want to just tour many, many houses to get a sense of what’s good or not.
Anyone feel the same & any strategies you’ve used (like using multiple realtors)?

23F. Trying to lower housing costs / find housing that is affordable to me in the longterm by buying multi family FHA and using the rental income to cover the majority of the mortgage while living in one unit, but FHA appraisals always ruin the deal (rental income comes in too low). Not sure what to do anymore bc every multi family house in my city has this issue. If you have real estate expertise in this area (or in other low cost longterm housing options) and can offer advice, please DM me!

Hi all, currently in Toronto thinking of purchasing a condo with my family. Is now a good time to buy? Even if the property is a catch and odds are it might be taken by anyone else. Should I wait to buy?

Looking for my first home, ideally a fixer upper. Seen 10 homes in the past 3 weeks, and all have *something* that I'm just not wanting to accept (bad neighborhood, a little too much needed in repairs, etc.)... Is the nature of a fixer upper accepting something that I don't want, or am I being impatient in my search?
