I max out my HSA, but only contribute 6% to 401k (which will max out company match). Otherwise I’d invest in other accounts. Is there any benefit to investing more to 401k? Seems like it only locks up a large sum of money

I’m in a high tax bracket so you bet your ass I max my 401K to take advantage of that tax shield. Obviously your situation may vary.

I would put 401k and HSA together

This post tells me that you are in 20s or early 30s, when one doesn't truly think about retirement.

However, this is the time when you should invest aggressively for the retirement. The 401K investment of the early years pays you the most.

Why?? Because your growth is tax-free and the compounding will make it grow multiple times in the next 40-45 years.

Moreover, while you are in a lower tax bracket, invest in Roth 401K. If in 32% bracket, go for traditional 401k

Additional plus of being young, you're more likely to change jobs. If you change jobs, you can roll the old 401k into an IRA.

This works best with a Roth 401k because it rolls cleanly into a Roth IRA, which is the best combo of tax savings, control and liquidity.

So load that Roth 401k up as much as you possibly can!

Depends what the other account is. If it is an IRA, that is fine. If it is a tax account, I would put more in 401k. Unless you need the money for something fairly soon

I’m almost done with my MBA but I’ll have to take out a loan to pay the last bit of it. I’ve paid about $30k out of pocket and I’ll have $18k that I’ll have to take a loan out for. I have a brokerage account that has $10k in it. Would it make sense to pull that money out to pay for the majority of what I have left or to just get a loan? I’m meeting with my FA in the summer but am just curious for other opinions. Keep in mind I make $53k and I have a 401k, Roth IRA, and traditional IRA as well.

24, a decent amount of savings in the bank. I’m sort of interested in buying a property in the next few years.
Is this a good or bad idea? I live in Ny area, so obviously the city would probably be too expensive to buy any property. Would probably have to buy further out in westchester, Long Island, maybe connecticut or NJ. If I buy, should I be living there? Or should I rent it out until I’m ready to live there (assuming it’s a bit further from the city). Very early stages of just thinking

Poke holes in my account allocation/suggest what you would do differently.

Currently I don't have access to HSA. Age 29, income $105k.

Roth retirement assets: $90k
Pretax retirement assets: $104k
Brokerage: $21k
House Equity (primary): $100k
HSA from old employer: $4k
Savings/checkings: $19k
ibonds: $12k

I am not handy in the slightest and turnkey properties for the most part don't make sense in terms of ROI vs alternatives. No debt outside of $128k mortgage.
