I may be offered an executive assistant position. Salary listed is 50,000+. I have many years of experience as a social media manager and executive assisting. That’s what really made my resume stand out to the hiring manager. He’s wanting me to manage their social media pages along with the executive assistant position.

What is a good salary to ask for? I was thinking like $70,000. I don’t want to ask for too much but also i don’t want to ask for too little.

Supporting how many people? 50k is low. Depending on how time involved social media is as well, that can add on a lot. I would find a number that you feel comfortable with. Unless a the job is an absolute necessity in the moment, I wouldn't undervalue yourself. If it is a necessity you could offer lower than you may deserve but keep looking.

like

I would shoot for 75k if it’s one executive plus social media manager. That’s a lot of work. Don’t let them lowball you. If it’s more executives, you should ask for even more.

Depending on location, benefits, and how many execs you’d be supporting, $50,000 seems low. Where are you located? Do you know what the market rate is for your area?

that's 2 different roles rolled into one, so $50K is definitely low. Do some research into your location/experience and whats the average and go from there

This. They are filling two roles with one person so go big on the salary ask. I’d start with 80K and see what they counter. Also, ask for things such as a hiring bonus or retention bonus, additional PTO/vacation time, annual performance bonus, etc. the worst they can do is say no! As an EA professional and someone who has also worked in HR, you’d be surprised what people ask for AND that it gets approved.

What does everyone think about the future of the audit (public) industry? I actually really like working on audit and doing client service but absolutely hate the business model. I wish it could be more equitable along the way rather than waiting for a pay day after you’ve worked you life away. I feel like younger generations are less willing to see benefit in this idea and it seems like fees are not keeping up with constant emphasis on growth.

I want to talk about how this industry can sometimes feel like it's run by robots.

Take search engine optimization, for example. It's very difficult to find a good SEO person who can actually explain how they work and why they're doing what they do. They seem to be afraid that if they explain things too clearly, they'll lose their edge over the competition!

We have a fixed PTO time plan (very generous) but leftover rates by now are enormous. It’s gonna be about 160 hours of unused PTO per employee in the end of the year, and we only rollover 80. We thought about rolling over everything, but then accruals get too high. Does anyone have creative ideas how we can roll over excessive hours and don’t make them wages at the same time...
