🐠, feeling extra lonely today. Can I get a hug?

You are totally (and should remain) invisible during meetings. You don’t get promoted at that level for contributions, you get promoted for not breaking shit.
No offence, it is very likely that your comments are not good enough yet.
Is it possible people are ignoring your input because they don’t see it as valuable? You may need to work towards establishing more credibility. Understand that’s easy to say but harder to do. I normally defer to those my senior in a meeting unless I know I should be driving the meeting, and only chime in if it is for an area of expertise
Honest question: how many years of experience do you have delivering relevant work?
Yup. Lowly associate here as well
How long have you been working?
How do you contribute?
Associate - sharpens the pencils and makes validation-seeking eye contact
Then go out on a whim in a smaller meeting with a valuable and well thought out idea, foot in the door. Grab the attention you want and prove you are worth that attention. You’ll be on the sideline till you put yourself out there. No one cares you butt in if it’s a good idea presented well, just make sure it’s actually... a good idea
I haven’t felt this way. I am very calculated when I speak and what comments I give and how I deliver them to the team. They are usually taken seriously and discussed. I’d aim at becoming very precise and speak with confidence and brevity. Also don’t just offer up problems, address the problem you see, state a potential solution, ask for thoughts
All fair points. I’ve only been working for ~7 months, so I understand to an extent. My thing is, I only speak in the flow of discussion and points that I make are usually said by someone else more senior at a later point who is then acknowledged by the group. It’s also just kind of annoying to know when I do speak, what I say is going to be taken with a grain of salt regardless.
Nope, I’m a guy
Are we talking client meetings or internal project team meetings?
Internal
I see you mentioned these are internal meetings - what is the nature of your input? Are you just making statements, or are you trying to establish clarity for the team as a whole? Are you working to root out a plan for next steps and taking ownership of any of the resultant actions?
