Good pay and good hours? That seems like the dream. What more would you want?

People who no longer care about their career. The best part of IA is the decent pay with good hours. There is nothing wrong with that.

It wasn't a good fit for me but there are people out there who are a fit for it.

Taking a job for decent pay with good hours isn’t “no longer caring about their career”

How is it that people in public accounting think that their work is not compliance? The only reason external audit exists is so that company’s can comply with SEC regs and bank covenants.

The hate for IA is dumb. People that need a job to shit on to distract them from how shitty and underpaid they are is sad.

I’m pretty sure you’re about to release the fury of at least one person with this post… someone last week went wild on the defense for their IA position. 🍿

I’m going crazy in Audit, I’m an A2. I think I’m going to try and transition to consulting. Would it be smarter to stay within the firm or go to a new one, and is there a half-step I should take (such as going to TAS for a year or so) before going into consulting? I just want more exposure to companies I work on than just the audit, it doesn’t feel like stuff I’ll be using in 5 years (but I’d be happy to be proven wrong on that). Business strategy/biz dev is catching my interest recently.

Any insight on SOX roles? Specifically not roles within the internal audit function but more ad-hoc SOX specialist roles? What kind of tasks do you take on and is that transferable skill? I don’t see tons of SOX posting but imagine IA would still be on the table and potentially GL roles.
