I miss kindergarten. Nap time and having no worries were the best.

Not to forget about snack time and juice boxes!

What about monkey bars

Oh yeah. Big giant (completely and utterly unsafe but hellaciously fun) outdoor playgrounds. You know, the kind that will definitely leave a mark on your face if you get shoved off. Not those sad plastic safe kind!!

If I could go back in time, I'd tell little me go take the damn nap! You will be regretting it so hard later.

I do that now.

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. Has anyone switched to product based company after 8 years of working in service based companies?

Wish apps like BetterHelp were free. I can’t afford healthcare or therapy (I’m unemployed, and yes, I’ve tried seeking pro bono therapy options — no place anywhere nearby offers it.) I really need a therapist I can talk to on at least a weekly basis to just unpack so much that’s bogging me down to the point of being unable to function some days, but it’s just so cost prohibitive! What sucks is everyone assumes this career hands you median wages on a platter but I’m worse off than I’ve ever been.

Hi! I started at a new company 2 months ago and while I’m really enjoying my job so far, I’m having a hard time gauging whether or not I’m doing a “good job.” My role seems to be always evolving, which is fine and I actually enjoy being a support to the greater marketing team, but I feel like I need better defined targets to make sure I’m meeting expectations. Also, when I ask my boss what they’d like to see, I don’t ever get a clear answer. (Cont’d in comments)

Hi guys, urgent suggestion regarding feeling overwhelmed at work

I don't know why but lately since the second wave of the pandemic has started, I have been feeling very overwhelmed at work. My manager is mostly a supportive and smart person but due to recent changes in teams his workload has also increased a bit.

I don't know if its work or just the pandemic but sometimes even looking at emails feels dreadful.

How should I talk to him? Please help. He is OOO next week, I need to do distoday

Moving to London spring 2023. Literally never been. ANY advice appreciated.

Looking at these areas based on research to rent in:

Greenwich
Angel/Clerkenwell
Clapham
Herne hill
Camden
Elephant Yard
Shoreditch

1 or 2 bedroom, budget ~3k per month. Zone 1 or 2. Need dog friendly with some green space (this has been hard), young professional area ideal. Likes drinking, going out, etc. Ideally walkable

Specific complex recommendations, or neighborhoods I’m not considering appreciated!!!

What’s up with this trend of hiring managers rejecting developers who don’t have FAANG experience on their resume? People in consulting companies also work for clients who handle high traffic and complex architectures. Also, not everyone wants to work at FAANG companies due to moral issues that these big tech companies ignore and blatantly misuse personal data and privacy.

Leaving public has been the best decision I ever made. Lol wanted to say that for a while and looking back at my time in industry I’ve learned so much more than at PwC, and had way more opportunities to grow than in public. Just thought I’d share my two cents for anyone debating making the jump! Background is IT audit.

Fellow runners - I’ve been running 3-4x per week at about a 20-25 mile/week for the past year or so.

My questions: (1) does it make sense to take a week off and let myself rest or do other workouts (i.e. cycling) and (2) I’ve been running with the same shoes since August last year - make sense to get new ones?

Would you say summaries are as effective for self help books like "the subtle art of giving a fk" and other similar books? I feel the books themselves ramble on too much on a side story only to tell a point that could be summed up in a couple sentences.
Or am I just not getting good book recommendations for growth/development on mental well being and productivity
