I’m waiting for my background check as I accepted an offer for Remote Licensed Insurance Customer Service Rep. While I’m a 1099 for my current role, I still haven’t told them I am leaving for a full time role that can change my life. It’s a small agency, and I’ve gotten close with the director. She’s the employment reference I gave; I’m a nervous that when they receive the call to verify employment, my days will be difficult. I’d hate to be let go before I start with LM. Thoughts? It’s been 10 months for me since I was laid off. My best advice is to take freelance gigs, anything you can get. Even the “evil” 3rd parties that take half your money. During that time reach out to every friend you have in the business. I was soooo worried about sharing that I was laid off on LinkedIn that I never did. Didn’t want to seem desperate. That was a mistake. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
DM your book. I can send stuff you way that might be right for you.
Good luck! Just about everyone in the biz has stood where you are and it always seems to lead to something better. Network hard on LinkedIn. When you see an opening, find out if you have any connections (1st or 2nd) there and hit them up repeatedly. Something will happen! Hope you got good severance.

How long have you been without a job?
Just a couple days. I know some people have it way worse, but I'm the main earner in my family and we're basically paycheck to paycheck. Plus with all the other layoffs I see, feels like it's going to be impossible to get a new job.

Follow the avail list on LinkedIn and def set yourself up with llc or s Corp asap to take on freelance.
I was told specifically not to set up an LLC or S Corp by my accountant. Check on that before you do.
